Hi, I purchased an item on eBay and it all went through smoothly. The next day, I recived an email to say that the sale had been cancelled as the item was out of stock or damanged. I just checked and the vendor is still selling this item and there are three of these items in the store. It was a great price! But, I had the same item from another vendor in my checkout for almost double the price when postage was included at the same time that I purchased the original item. Is there anything I can do about this?

Short answer, no, there is nothing you can do about it. Rest assured that the seller earned themselves a defect for using the out of stock option. Too many of them and ebay will shut them down.

I'm curious, is it still listed at the same price you bought at and was it a buy it now item or auction?
You can't force a seller to send it, all you can force is a refund and presumably you got that.
My guess is the seller is telling fibs and just didn't want to sell at the cheap price, that sometimes happens. As tipping point says, cancelling as out of stock isn't a thing the seller should try too often though as it could affect their account.
You do have other options. If you really want the item, you can buy from another seller.
