I am unable to pay for an item because of an error saying the seller doesn't post to my address (USA to Australia). The seller uses global shipping which is the norm for most of my items from the US.

What is the item number?

Have you specified your delivery address as a PO box? That would explain it, as couriers are not able to deliver to these, as I understand it - except for AP’s StarTrack.
If that’s the issue, change your delivery address to a street address.

Even if they use GSP they may still not post to Australia.

^^^^^ This...
Po Boxes and/or Parcel Collect can be a problem for some Vendor that use preformatted form from courier company...
Sometimes it helps to explain to the vendor your situation to see if they can use either a different courier or filling up the form in a not conventional way... (names first and numbers after in the address line). Sometimes that does work...

By definition the EIS/GSP use couriers. So ALL Parcel Collect/Lockers or PO Boxes will definitely be a problem. Always.
Your solution smacks of not actually reading the OP. Which seems to happen to you often.

I know you are not here to help, but did you bother to read the last line of my reply?
That's how you get PO Boxes and Parcel collect to work with global shipping...
Being doing it with Amazon since 1998...
You don't need to reply to this...

But even by scrambling it, the sender may be able to send it, but Australia Post aren't obligated and generally will not accept a parcel from other courier companies.

That smacks to me of entitlement Sugar - I live in a small town with no mail deliveries outside of the town limits, so I have to have a post office box.
BUT as well as the PO box number I have my full address on orders so that couriers outside of Startrack can deliver to me............
An amusing story however, there was a bloke going crazy in the post office where he had tried "burt's" approach, then found out the post office refused delivery by the courier (and rightly so) then had to travel 3 hours to the nearest courier depot to get his parcel. 🤣🤣🤣

Three hours? I hope that the parcel contained a solid gold chamber elephant at least…!
