Does anyone else HATE this stupid Global shipping program?

I've found Global to be inflexible, expensive and frustrating. I've just had an item sent through it and of course it's under multiple carriers and the number I was given by WNDirect cannot be tracked. I've therefore paid for a Priority Mail service and received what was First Class without the tracking. I live in Australia and First Class International through the good old U.S. Post can now be tracked here. It is SO much better than what I just experienced and costs me so much less, but when a seller locks themselves into a Global listing, it appears that they can no longer override the invoice so I've just paid double for this rubbish! So not happy!!

GSP is total bull**bleep**. I will no longer buy anything on eBay if it is part of the listing

Not sure why you needed to drag this up 2 1/2 years after the last post.  If you actually read all posts - its is very simple.  Use sellers who do not use the GSP or ask if seller is prepared to use an alternative shipping method.  As stated many shippers dont even know they have been opted into the servicve.

Please dont drag up old threads to add Nothing!!!!

While there is truth in what you say daydreams_12 , I believe the sheer disgust and frustration people have with Global Shipping / Pitney Bowes causes this phenomenon.

I LOOOOOOVE the GSP. It means I can get rare collectables that I'd not normally be able to get.

You're in the minority there tipty.  From my personal experience it's the complete opposite. getting a rare collectable item and paying $38 instead of $17 isn't a good feeling as less money for the next item.

Another member her has mentioned that many sellers who once used GSP have gone back to using normal post as they lose too many customers.  A seller I had help me with an item from a tunnel thinking GSP seller tiold me he has had an increase of sales since he ditched GSP.

Totally agree !

Ebay is partnered with pitney bowes and someone is making a HUGE profit from this so called priority shipping

i have done extensive research , as the items arrive in australia pitney bowes request the carrier to ship ECONOMY . Saving a big load of money ! So who is benefiting from this ?

I want the service i paid for ..PRIORITY .. not too much to ask is it ???

Pitney Bowes only pay FedEx for economy shipping.

All that means is that when the items arive in Australia they are delivered by Australia Post e-parcel rather than Express or they are delivered by a courier but not by an express service.   It makes no difference to the time your item takes to get to Australia.

I'd love to see the data/stats - yours and the other member's.

Given most people come to forums to complain (over and over and over and over ...) or praise there will be more negative than positive feedback (bearing in mind that apparently only about 2% of users frequent the forum - no, I don't have the data).

Personally, I have been happy with my purchases using GSP but I made a considered decision to use it each time.

There was a post/thread eons ago with information about how to get around/avoid GSP. That's the information that members should be directed to so that they can be better informed ... not the endless woe is me/you.

@cezm

the only member I recall posting about โ€œsellers who once used GSP have gone back to using normal post as they lose too many customersโ€ has been 4channel.  Iโ€™m happy to be proven wrong, but I genuinely only recall 4channel posting that.  Maybe he thought he had posted that using his other posting ID!

I agree about posters coming here when they have something to complain about.  When that complaint is about the GSP the only members who would reply would be like minded individuals (misery loves company) or those of us who have had a different or mixed feelings about the GSP and can offer suggestions to reduce the costs.

I thought there was a thread that gave buyers useful tips for avoiding the GSP 'excessive' costs - asking seller to change postage service; asking seller to set up combined listing; making sure measurements were input/correct.

All of these the sellers can decline to do, of course, but at least giving buyers this information would be more useful than the continual rants which don't educate buyers and are getting pretty ho hum. As I type, 3 of the top 8 threads are about the injustices of the GSP.
