Does eBay listen to website suggestion from members?

Does anyone know if eBay actually listens to any feedback to their website people who use it send in?  I was ripped off like 4 years ago and put forward a very simple and easy way to remove this from happening to other people.  I have tried to contact anyone at eBay if they know if it has been approved or denied or not looked at but no one knows anything.  It is a seemingly easy change to their money back guarantee on specific items but it may be more complicated than I think and I understand that.

Has anyone else put in their suggestions and actually received a response?  I have been trying to improve the site but was basically told by their support staff that eBay is not suitable for me to use since I have been asking them questions about it.

Back story - I was sold a fake gift card (which is on the Ts and Cs) so I understand I should've read into that little * and read their wordy policy - accept that.  But after getting the seller banned they were allowed back a week later selling exactly the same items.  My suggestion would at least alert people that they are not covered by money back guarantee if they purchase items like Gift cards.  Money back guarantee image should not show for those items that are in certain categories on the website - such as gift cards, cars, whatever else if on their policy.  It would've informed the user straight away instead of relying them on clicking on the money back guarantee to find more information about what is coverd or not.

#endrant. 🙂

Does eBay listen to website suggestion from members?

@tommohalby01,

No.

eBay have an Unsolicited idea submissions policy in which they say:

❝At eBay, we appreciate comments from our members on our products and services. But we have a long-standing policy of not accepting unsolicited suggestions, ideas, or proposals.

[...]

What happens if I send a suggestion to eBay?

We appreciate your input, but we can't respond to suggestions that are sent to eBay.

[...]

Unsolicited idea submissions

eBay is always pleased to hear from members of the eBay community and welcomes their comments regarding eBay's products and services. However, eBay's long-standing company policy does not allow eBay to accept or consider ideas, suggestions, proposals or materials other than those eBay has specifically requested.❞

Some of this is in code. Here is the key:

"appreciate comments from our members" = lalala.gif

"appreciate your input" = lalala.gif

"always pleased to hear from members of the eBay community" = lalala.gif

"welcomes their comments regarding eBay's products and services" = lalala.gif

Ebay takes absolutely no notice of suggestions from members no matter what the blurb says.   It is a complete waste of time to contact them, no matter how good your suggestion may be.

As for the money back guarantee.....it is a very new feature of ebay compared with the paypal buyer protection.  Those of us who have used paypal protection for years have always been aware of the items, including gift cards, which are not covered.

It is not too difficult to read the ebay terms and learn what is not covered by the MBG.

Got it in one.

It makes you wonder where they get their ideas if they're going to automatically disregard the people at the coalface. Jeff Bezos, presumably. Highly redacted, and the ones he has dismissed out of hand.

Does eBay listen to website suggestion from members?

Basically, the answer is a resounding no.

Your message was probably deleted as soon as it hit an inbox. There would be absolutely nowhere the workers could forward it on to as ebay does not welcome feedback.

It sounds as if they only take notice of input from surveys or such things that they initiate.

It can be summed up as

-Don't call us, we'll call you.

- Don't bother speaking till you are spoken to.

I beg to differ slightly.

Does ebay listen to one suggestion - well no, but when enough users jump up and down and scream n hollar from the roodtops for long enough, occasionally ebay hear a distant rumble and try to make out what it is saying.

Once they get the general idea of what that noise is, they then decide whether they are going to listen or just trundle on their merry way. ( and that all comes down to what effect the changes will make to ebays bottom line profits ) If enough responses to surveys etc. point out that " the little people are not happy ". occasionally ebay make a small concession and actually change things in response.

Dropping major parts of the defective defect system is one example. Allowing buyers to see feedback for specific items is another recent change, requested by many buyers for a long time.

If they are like most companies they will read the "suggestions" and if there is anything that may be useful to

them they'll claim it as their idea and you will not get any sort of reply or recognition,Corny_cleaning-glasses.gif

Most companies will have a similar response to "suggestions" but will vet them for anything useful, tease.gif
