Ebay Charged me twice

I recently bought a few items from ebay costing a hefty $360. I purchased each items from different sellers and checked out via cart. On the day, Ebay charged me the full $360 on the spot which I thought was normal. The next morning, I wake up to see that my bank acc ended up losing another $360. Worried, I looked through my purchase history and Ebay charged me again for each of the individual items?! I'm really confused as to why that happened. Will Ebay refund me the second deductions or did they just charge me $720 for a $360 order? Has this happened to anyone before? Will I get my money back?!

Same has happened to me and I cannot find contact details for eBay when I ring the number it tells  me to go online and then hangs up

The call center closed nearly3 years ago due to Covid

eBay Help is at the top of every page for contact via 'Live Chat'  during normal business hours

Unless the issue is the same issue has has already been explained in all the replies already posted in this thread, and other threads about being charged twice that are posted on the forum

The same happened to me.  I was charged individually for 5 items in my cart, then two days later I was charged for the items as a total. I contacted them and they denied the last debit.

They told me to contact my bank.

I don't think it was actually eBay that did it but had to be someone involved with them. Who else would know my card number, what I bought, how much esch item cost and that I purchasef via the cart? I very rately use the cart and won't be doing so again.

I'm waiting for the bank to investigate it and get back to me.

Fingers crossed your bank will tell you what many people here have posted ad nauseam regarding pending charges vs the actual charges

I very very much doubt 'someone involved with eBay' is  the answer. 

That is tin foil hat stuff

But if you do actually believe that is possible, obvious you have changed you passwords etc already and done a virus scan on your device

I've also had this happened before and wasn't surprised when it occurred by purchasing separate items from different stores. 
This is the first time its caused an overdraw on my account though, as usually it is just a 'pending' charge that disappears after 3-5 business days only leaving the separate charges. Don't necessarily think it is a scam or other official charge

Have spoken to a Live chat person to advise them that if I am charged overdraw fees I'll be expecting a reimbursement from ebay, they said I'll have to take it up with the bank... bit of a messy system overall.
Their reasoning for the double charge is:

"When you place an order, eBay system verifies the information with the bank/card issuer, hence, first entry that you see is usually an authorization hold from the bank/card issuer, and then an actual charge applies. Ideally, once the actual charge is applied, banks/card issuers are supposed to match the actual charge with the authorization hold and then release the authorization hold back into your account. Having said that, at times, some banks are unable to identify/match the actual charge with the authorization hold and hence, your bank/card issuer continue to show two deductions for the same order."

Obviously you reported this to your bank already, what did they say?
