Ebay is no longer the place to be

I do most of my shopping online. In the last month I have spent approx $500.

Once my current sales are final.

I am now taking my money else where.

I left neg feedback fo a seller who overcharged me $11 postage and the item was not packed properly.

The seller said they were going to express then didn't.

said they would part refund postage then didn't.

said had refunded had not.

Told ebay had refunded had not.

My feedback left was over charged buy $11 said would refund they did not

I asked ebay about this they say its there choice to remove feedback and that the seller said they refunded. Lie Lie Lie

So my question is how can they think it's right to remove without checking facts.

Whats the point of feedback if ebay play around with it. I would understand if she had refunded but she did not.

So I will now continue and increase my shopping with, Catch of the day, grocery run, Target, Big W, Cotton On, scoopon who offer combined shipping, and have more protection in place for buyers.

I think by ebay looking after bad sellers they are doing harm to the good ones. But as ebay plays with feedback I can't tell who is who so I have no choice to take my money and run.

so when they told ebay they refunded me that makes my statement untrue. However they have never refunded. What makes me made is ebay excepts the sellers word and didnt bother to check with me

TBH Belinda I seriously doubt eBay would remove it on the grounds you have stated.

Not sure of the details, but if you lost a paypal claim over the post charge - they would remove it no matter what you said in your feedback.

Otherwise I imagine it would have been removed because you used the word "overcharged" when the advertised listing price for post was what was actually charged - no more than that (notwithstanding that they sent it via a method that cost less than this)

Re: Ebay is no longer the place to be

that was it. They said that I should have asked the seller about postage charges. I should sort it out with them when I replied that I had not recieved the refund.

All they said was she said she refunded me and I should be checking my accounts. I did and its not there. they gave me a whole thing on ebays policeys on postage charges.

Who ever I have been emailing back and forth with kept emailing, talk to seller, they refunded appropriate feedback and bla bla. I keep saying how is it not appropriate no rudeness and only truth spoken. I have emails where she said would refund and I have my paypal account that shows money taken out and none refunded.

I don't get it.

Re: Ebay is no longer the place to be

When you purchased the item in the first place you committed to the postage and packaging price in this listing. So indicating in your feedback that the seller overcharged implies that the seller charged you more post than was stated in the lising, so can be viewed as untrue.

Maybe if had left a comment for the post pirate seller along the lines of "paid $18 post for dress carelessly crammed into $9 satchel"  (or whatever the cost was) it would be less likely to have any grounds for removal.

Re: Ebay is no longer the place to be

you are right but it **bleep**s me that the person who paid straight away and contacted the seller first before neg has feedback removed and no ebay support.

While the seller proven to lie to get it removed wins.

Re: Ebay is no longer the place to be

Hi Belinda, this is just my point of view, but please humour me. eBay is unlike some online sites because you are sometimes dealing with private individuals, rather than registered businesses.

Your seller has overcharged you and not done what she said, but were you happy with the overall price paid for the item you received? At the end of the day, you DID receive it in one piece. Give her very poor stars for Postage & Handling charges, maybe leave a neutral stating poor packaging, then move on and never buy from her again.

$11 is fairly significant but nothing to cause you to stop using eBay for YOUR convenience as an online shopping option. With the great items that can be got, only you will lose out, not the seller.

At the end of the day, I don't give a rats about the feedback system on eBay. I think it's juvenile in the current 'e-commerce' climate. I sell in my own online store and never hear back from buyers. They have agreed to the postage charges when they pay--it's as simple as that. If they don't like it, they will never return again. I receive the odd "Thanks so much!", which is wonderful, but I'm not itching for feedback either there or on eBay.

Buy something because you're happy with the seller and the overall price. Don't let the feedback system govern any decisions (i.e. "I can always leave bad feedback if I'm not happy"). This is not a sensible way to shop but, unfortunately, eBay seems to encourage this mentality. Think: Is this seller operating in a professional manner? Do they have store policies in place? What will my options be if I am not happy with this purchase?

The feedback system is really an artificial construct which makes buyers believe that all will be OK. Think about all of the other sites you shop through. Seller professionalism, integrity & reliability goes well beyond any feedback or review system. A factual 'neutral' and low stars for the relevant areas would have been more effective on this particular occasion.
