Ebay plus a joke

I know it's early days, but based on what I see, there is no way in hell I'll be paying for Ebay Plus. I buy a lot and have a large watch list and have noticed that the only sellers offering it.... are those that had free shipping already! lol and of course we know there is no such thing, it's factored in to the price.

So it's all a farce to get people to pay $29, $49 after the first year to get free shipping off sellers who offered it prior to Ebay PLus anyway. Not only single seller I use who charges postage now has the Plus. And here was the Ebay chief saying they were doing it to increase online shopping. Yeah whatever dude....

I signed up for Ebay Plus after umming and ahhing about it, missing the $29 option... but when my sone started selling his toys, I thought I may as well get the Google Home Mini, and help him sell... and after seeing all those specials on the launch, thought there would be loads of benefits! ...and of course get more hlep when needed.
Since joining I have spent MORE time on help chat than ever!!!!  Nothing ws explained properly,..  Just because you meet all requirements for ebay plus listings, and have signed up for ebay plus..doesn't guarantee your items will be... read between the lines..
As for the Google home mini... my son has waited at the door for the parcel everyday.. it's been two weeks.
They havent' even sent it!!!
...oh no hang on..t hey don't know if they've sent it after speaking to 3 people about it I have to wait to be notified tomorrow hopefully.
No more special prices that I've seen...
Regret it.
Don't do it!

well, I have a vastly different experience to you.

I took up the one month free trial and $29 introductory offer.  A week later they started the free ‘mini’ on signup . . . . .  but that didn’t bother me as I didn’t want a mini anyway.

In that first month I bought some eBay plus items and got the free postage which has already paid for my first year subscription.  I also got a 10% off voucher on eBay plus items and made further savings.

I am more than happy with having signed up to eBay plus.  I haven’t had to phone eBay about my subscription or to ask how it works as I read up on it before signing up.  I read the terms and conditions.  I made an informed decision to sign up having fully educated myself on the pros and cons.

Ebay plus a joke

just to add to my previous post, today I received an email that informed me that as a plus member I get 20 fee-free listings (valid to 30th Sept) which is double the usual fee-free offers made by eBay to some regular members.

For members who use all 20 listings in the offer their membership cost for eBay plus would well and truly be recovered.

I'm not a Plus member. I got 10 fee free listings across all accounts, even ones that have never been used. Valid until 30/9/18.

I am disappointed that I didn't take up the $29 offer but I have had my month's free trial and bought birthday presents for 8 people and Christmas presents for 7.

I have saved over $125 in freight for things I was going to buy anyway, so I'm happy with Ebay plus. I might even squeeze in a couple more purchases before my trial ends tomorrow.

I also had one return with no cost to me.

Horrible experience with plus and eBay support charging me the yearly amount every month for eBay plus.
Additional to that I've gotten no value from it and sellers that don't have eBay plus often sell for cheaper and sellers that are part of eBay plus and use the 20% off codes often price jack their product 20% so you don't save anything.
It's cheaper to shop on Amazon since price jacking is so common

Avoid plus at all costs

Not sure how you come to that conclusion, re price jacking, given sellers have absolutely no control over Plus. I don't have it, I don't want it, yet it appears on quite a few of my listings. I don't tick all the boxes where it would be added by eBay, but it's still there. Unless a seller makes the time to go look, they wouldn't know it was added to any of their listings.

Most of what I buy isn't available on Amazon, so that rules it out for me.

I’ve just been ripped of by EBAY plus!

After signing up with EBay, we received a large enticing banner on the page for “EBay Plus” and free shipping. It was a 30 day trial.

Never using it and completing forgetting about it, I just received a “lovely” Sunday email from PayPal to tell me I had been charged $48.99 from EBay Market Place.

I did not receive any email updates or notifications to tell me that the trial period was coming to an end and I would be charged.

After reviewing their “policy”, it states that once charged I cannot receive a refund. HIGHWAY ROBBERY at its best.

I will now go through the steps of filing through PayPal and failing that, will contact Fair Trade to establish my rights.

Of course I cancelled the membership immediately once I received notification that I had been charged.

I would almost guarantee that in the T&C's there's a clause saying that before the free trail is over, you have to unsubscribe or eBay will automatically start charging you for the service.

Here t'is

Free 30-day trial

  1. If you sign up for a free 30-day trial of eBay Plus, you may cancel your membership at any time during the 30-day trial period.
  2. If you cancel your eBay Plus membership during the 30-day trial period, you will incur no fees or other charges for the membership. You will continue to receive all eBay Plus benefits until the end of the 30-day trial period, at which time your eBay Plus membership will end.
  3. If you do not cancel your eBay Plus membership before the 30-day trial period has ended, your membership will be automatically renewed and you will be charged the full annual subscription fee in accordance with sections 5 and 6.

Section 5 includes this, and yes, the segment in caps is how it is stylised on the T&C page - of particular note is the bit in brackets that says "without notice to you".

"You will be automatically charged for the membership fee using the preferred payment method you have selected, unless you cancel your membership prior to the charge. UNLESS YOU CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP, YOU UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR EBAY PLUS MEMBERSHIP WILL AUTOMATICALLY CONTINUE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CLAUSE 6.3 AND YOU AUTHORISE US (WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU) TO COLLECT THE MEMBERSHIP FEE USING THE PAYMENT METHOD WE HAVE ON FILE FOR YOU."

6.3 is this:

"Your eBay Plus membership will automatically renew at the end of each membership year for a further year unless you or eBay cancel it prior to the end of the membership period."

So yeah - it says it no less than 3 times in the T&Cs.
