seems a lot of them now list "Item location: CHULLORA,NSW, Australia" which just happens to be a major Australia Post distribution centre so you get sucked into thinking it came from Sydney. I had an item take 11 days to go from Sydney to Canberra - I could have walked there and picked it up. Looking into the seller, they were based on China so put 2+2 together! ebay don't give a toss either. Now I do not buy from any seller based overseas or with an item location of Chullora and always check the feedback. If you are a legit seller from Chullora, you need to have a word to your 'colleagues' because they are not doing you any favours.

No need to challenge the seller - just look at where they are registered.
If it says China, it is almost certain that is where the goods are coming from. Then you don't buy.
Quicker and easier than waiting for answers to questions.

And mine.
I have no sympathy for these buyers who whinge about how long their purchases take to reach them, because they didn't make some basic checks first.
First clue the item may be coming from China is the gallery photo, usually with multiple images crammed into it.
Second clue is often the gallery photo also shows Aussie flags or something about Aussie Post
Third clue - as Dave suggested and this is by far the most telling - is to click on their feedback score and note where they are registered. If overseas, no doubt this is where the purchase will be coming from.

This is one of the few things that has irritated me about eBay for a long time. The spiel in the ad says "Item Location" Sydney AU, so you EXPECT it to be posted from Sydney.
If the item is located in Hong Kong, then the item location should be Hong Kong! There is no grey areas here.
When I buy, if the item location is Melb, for example, with packing time, I should get it in 3-5days to Perth (and pay the appropriate postage)
if the item location says Hong Kong, with free or paid postage, I EXPECT the item to arrive around 15-18 days (to Perth)
eBay needs to sort this out, and hit the sellers with some sort of fine/suspension period, for mis representing where the item actually is.
Many folks look at where the item is located and buy accordingly
Along with all the similar complaints about this, eBay please act to stop this practice

Ebay don't read here, no do they care.
They can only forward the complaints to ebay China, who do nothing.

That's why buyers need to have a good look at the expected delivery date.
I'm in Melb & if an item is listed as within Vic or Sydney or even Qld, I usually get it within a few days and delvery is usually listed as about a week, or occasionally 7-10 days.
If such an item had a delivery date of eg 3weeks to a month, I would be immediately suspicious the item itself is not located in Aust.

I agree. the delivery times, give the clue, but thats hardly the point. The sellers are outright lying about where the item is located and they should be penalised with a temp suspension, (which will impact thier sales) which could EASILY be done by eBay for that
You shouldnt have to go to the sellers profile to check his/her location, or even look at the estimated delivery times (which are often miles off anyway)
The item is not where the seller says it is, so they should be bought to account for it
