I just bought an item which was the wrong one and got dreadful service trying to replace it which is still yet to happen so, quite reasonably I thought , I left negative feedback for the company . It was posted when I wrote it but has since vanished . Is this common now that if you don't like the feedback you are given you just ask eBay to delete it?

THAT is seen as feedback extortion, and that could well be why the neg was removed.

The truth has come out, feedback extortion, wow it took a while but eventually the truth appears

So just to be clear girls - If you leave negative feedback that is OK but if you give someone the opportunity of fixing things before you take that step that is some sort of eBay felony ?
I am starting to understand why nothing I bring to the attention of this eBay "community" ever seems to be resolved to my satisfaction .
Ebay and its fan club and I live in quite different moral universes.
But keep up the good work girls I'm sure eBay appreciates your running interference for them and dodgy sellers and buyers enjoy the opportunity to hide behind "The Rules" .
PS Now is probably the time for you to call upon a Moderator to close this discussion down.

not sure why we would want it shut down.
But more importantly it is interesting that you think using feedback extortion is ok,

Did you even read the link I posted for you ? You clearly used feedback extortion in your message to the seller, so you were not giving them "the opportunity to fix things" you were threatening them with a neg if they didn't do what you wanted them to do.
Entitled much ??????

You need to ask a mod yourself, they do not close other people's topics on other member's requests
And YOU were the one who said you told the buyer you 'forewarned' him you were going to leave neg feedback. Very different to giving someone the chance to fix things
You were given a link regarding that rule and still want to be childish and accuse us of being eBay's fan club
OK, so you are special, no rules apply to you and heaven forbid anyone say different
read the eBay policies yourself, we try to explain them, as they are and we either get abused or told we are protecting eBay or 'their fan club'. Keep breaking the rules/policies and eBay will shut down your account altogether
Cute you accuse us of giving dodgy sellers and buyers an opportunity to hide when you leave a non payer false positive feedback. Another policy violation (but hey, no rules for you)
Nothing is resolved to your satisfaction because you expect special rules just for you, or that rules in general don't apply to you at all
It also seems that you think eBay even know you, I or any other buyer/seller are commenting on the forum
Hot tip, they don't

Hey sandy, the only disappointing thing with all this, we weren't accused of working for Ebay, thats the normal get of of jail card used by users who know they have done wrong.

The thing that stands out to me in this thread is that feedback was left too early in the process.
It is the very last action in finalising a transaction and not to be used to blackmail a seller into doing what you want.
Only after negotiating with the seller should you leave feedback.....to signal the end of the transaction.
If the negotiations were successful you should leave good feedback. If the negotiations were unsuccessful as it would appear in this transaction you could have left negative feedback which would probably have stuck.
You need to learn when to leave feedback and what is acceptable to say in that feedback if you want to leave a meaningful comment.

I basically said that, at post 18 and was told, quite curtly, that I had no idea what I was talking about, and called a 'keyboard warrior' to boot.
Now everybody is saying the FB was too early, so where's the snarky comeback from the OP?

Stawks, it would appear that what we need to do is not post the truth or facts in regards to a member's question, but instead post gentle and heartfelt responses that cheer the poster up.
Though that might get us fired from our lofty positions as "eBay stooges and/or employees".
