Hi,
I am just wondering why some sellers don't leave feedback for buyers until after the buyer has left feedback for them?

I will run with that, works for me.
So do I, and have no contest for any member who runs with what works for them (not that it would matter if I did). I believe that buyer's expectations, preferences etc (outside of a seller's obligations) should be noted and respected, taken into consideration, accomodated where possible and practical, but not that they should ultimately dictate a seller's personal business decisions (of which leaving feedback is one).

something I have learnt amongst other things from eBay tonight is that sellers can only leave positive feedback about buyers, so if a buyer knows that a seller can only leave positive feedback, why does it matter when or if they leave they leave it?
Exactly. And buyer feedback is irrelevant, so why are you so concerned about not getting it?

Lol ... buyer is irrelevant ???? in your opinion Davewil ...

that's was my point, if a seller can only leave positive feedback why not leave it when payment has been made,
Because some sellers like to excercise what little choice they do have, some sellers think it's better to leave a more meaningful comment than "buyer paid", and some don't consider it to be bad manners to leave feedback at a different point in the transaction.
Lots of different reasons, really,

Lol DG .... "more meaningful" comment is a bit loaded me thinks ...
More meaningful to you, to some other sellers ... maybe ..
I leave feedback when I post, and tailor a standard comment to rate payment speed of buyer and date sent - I reckon thats pretty meaningful even though its standardised
lol unless they are unable to make payment or contact, and then I always note that next time payment or contact would have made transaction even better

and where do you get the some sellers info from, or is that your preference when you sell on here, but as a buyer I do find it bad manners not to leave the feedback after I have paid, very bad manners in fact
I have already stated that I leave feedback for buyers as soon as I receive payment. My comments in this thread aren't about me or my personal opinions or preferences, they're about defending the right of other people to have their own - different - opinions and practices.
If you came to the boards and said "I like to leave feedback for buyers as soon as they pay", I wouldn't have taken any issue at all, but you came to the boards stating when you think others should leave it, and that is - in my opinion - in direct contradiction with the freedom others have to form their own opinions and make their own choices. You want your opinion on this subject respected - I'm very happy to do that as long as your opinion doesn't turn into expectations of others.
If you want my personal opinion.... No, I don't consider it bad manners for a seller not to leave feedback after payment, or even at all. Feedback is not part of a transaction for me, and it doesn't change anything about the most important aspects of a transaction. All it is to me is an assessment of one, and I'm not fussed if a seller asseses the speed of payment with a publicly viewable comment - what matters to me is that they pack and send the item I purchased, and are willing to communicate with me politely and respectfully if need be.
I don't consider the feedback I leave to actually be for the person I leave it for - I consider it to be for the people who want information about the member in question. That is my opinion, and I don't expect anyone else to be swayed by it, but I do think eBay buying/selling would be a lot more pleasant if there wasn't so much focus on when/if feedback was left.

Why the LOL?
I did say some sellers, it's not like I said every seller who waits leaves a more meaningful comment, did I?
