Well why don't you buy Australian. The tax is there to add help raise the price of low cost online items so local australian companies (That pay tax already) have a fighting chance

Are there any goods that are exempted?
E.G. I want to buy a book that is not published or otherwise available in Australia. It's under $1,000 and coming from the States . It's from a business seller not sole trader by the looks . Books in Australia are also actually GST exempt to complicate matters.
I think I know the answer but will ask anyway .

Since it's an importation, no, there is no exemption for it no matter whether it's a book or anything else if it's through eBay or a seller with greater than $75,000 (I think) imports.
