Getting sellers address etc

Hi All,

I bought a laptop, aussie seller, item was new. After 190 days it failed. Under consumer law I can ask for it to get fixed, but the seller is no longer returning my emails.

I contacted Paypal and they won't give me the sellers details.

How do I get the sellers details so I can pursue this further. I really need an address, phone number and ABN to lodge it with NCAT.

Thanks for any help.

You can get their details from ebay.

Hit the 'advanced' button, next to the big blue 'search' button

and fill in the seller's id

You will get their details, and ebay will inform them, and give them

your details

Ebay only give out  details when there has been a transaction.

I doubt you will get anywhere with the seller.    Good luck

I actually am having some what the same dificulties... I won an item today, but i have filled in seller id and item number and i get a message that ebay is unable to give me this information as i do not have a transaction with that ebay id... (but i do)...

Since then, the newbie seller has responded to my message with the info i need, but I was curious as to why i couldnt get the info via *find contact information* link on the site map...  has this changed or something? its been a while since i last purchased on ebay.

cheers folks...
btw... hows everyone doing?  *BIG WAVE*  Man LOL

Maybe your payment hadn't registered?

maybe you pulled the trigger way too early?

Same day request for details would ensure you only ever bought ONE thing from me. I don't need the hassles of needy buyers.

It could have been a pick up item Dave and if the seller is new, may not have known the buyer didn't get their details too.

I don't think it is anything sinister - there seems to be a small glitch with this function, sometimes it works and sometimes not.   I have had that happen and I asked ebay and they emailed me the information.

yeah and narky sellers dont do well with me either!!

It was Cash on Collection, i had a 4hr drive and was to collect today.... so me needing pick up details when seller wasnt answering emails, even just a contact number was kind of VITAL in this situation....

This was her very first sale...
Anyway, she eventually sent me the info.... late last night.

But please, do feel free to judge away!!!

Re: Getting sellers address etc

Update:

So I logged the issue with Fair Trading, but the seller didn't reply. Fair Trading was also unable to get the sellers details from Ebay

Then I logded a complaint with NCAT who told me to put Ebay as the defendant, which I've done.

After I emailed the court documents to Ebay, they sent me some partial details for the seller, but not enough to get the seller into court. All they sent was a phone number and that they are located in Sydney.

So in a couple of weeks I have the hearing at NCAT with Ebay as the defendent. I'm planning on asking Ebay for the sellers details, because otherwise they're enabling a seller to break Australian consumer law.

After that I'm going to lodge a complaint against Paypal with the financial ombudsman, because I really just need the sellers details to get them into court to get my laptop repaired.

Did you go to the seller's page like padi suggested?

Re: Getting sellers address etc

Is the seller a registered business or a private seller? If they're a private seller then consumer law doesn't apply to them.

Sounds like a lot of expense going to court to get a computer fixed. It would be cheaper just to get it fixed wouldn't it? By the time you pay court costs, solicitors, a day or 2 off work, it soon adds up. I'd be pretty pished if my new computer failed after 6 months too, but it sounds like it would be cheaper just to claim on the manufacturers warranty, rather than spend thousands pursuing the seller.

Re: Getting sellers address etc

I don't understand.    All this trouble for information that is already available.

The seller has all their details including address, ABN, Phone number

Even information about what to do about warranties on their store page.

Padi told you a week ago where to find the info
