Hi to all buyers from australia purchasing goods under the global priority shipping . I would suggest DONT !!
when the item is shipped ebay is apparently partnered with pitney bowes who take over the shipping on its destination to australia
and ALL the items when they arrive in Australia are shipped ECONOMY to us NOT priority as we paid for !
so we are paying three times as much than first class international airmail for this SERVICE and the ridiculous thing is first class airmail will arrive in Australia within 6-10 business days ,Global Priority is taking a month to six weeks !!!
why pay for this dodgy priority when in fact when it arrives in australia its shipped ECONOMY ..
so i am not going to buy from anyone using the global shipping program anymore .. its a ripoff for the aussie buyers !
I have called ebay several times about this and emailed them copies of the tracking which CLEARLY shows that once the parcel hits australia its economy all the way ! The few times i called the ebay consultant said yes we can see that , and will look into it and NEVER got back to me... which i figured would happen
someone is making a HUGE profit from this service its either pitney bowes or ebay !!
So if we all stop buying from sellers who use this program it might change ..i have been buying on ebay for many years .. and until this service was introduced you could really rely on the international shipping arrival time .
i dont mind paying for a service but we are NOT getting the service we paid for !!
I am currently waiting on 3 parcels from USA , all shipped global priority . Paid for over a month ago !
Still in transit .. for two of the parcels i paid over $30 priority shipping.. the other was $28 .. but the seller doesnt benefit at all.. in fact they dont even SEE the extra shipping cost that we incur on the invoice ..
so ebay please start sending our parcels PRIORITY ..which is what we are paying for ..thats all i ask !

I have a lot of sympathy for genuine situations where an individual has his/her privacy invaded. One only has to read of what is happening in China at the moment to feel the cold chill of 1984 raising the hairs on the back of one's neck.
What with facial recognition software, gait recognition, social credit system, security cameras everywhere, drones, etc., I am genuinely terrified by the claustrophobic environment that modern China is building. I seem to remember reading some papers about different levels of personal privacy which are needed, depending upon the personality type of the individual. I certainly class myself as needing privacy - not for iconoclastic behaviour or plotting terrorist activities, but just for the comfort and bliss of knowing myself to be alone when I simply want that alone time.
At other times, of course, we all need human interaction.
At no time, though, would any of us, surely, relish being spied on as we go about our daily activities, just because our daily lives are to be assessed through the filter of one's government in terms of "social credit". Wherever the balance is between security (to prevent the innocent general public from being targeted by criminals and terrorists) and the right to live life with due privacy, China does not have it (in my opinion).
.... I'm just not sure, though, that having one's name and address and phone number known by a courier company is - generally speaking - an infringement of privacy.
I can see the argument for invasion of privacy if one's purchases are being unpacked/repacked by third parties, but that's an endemic circumstance that comes with buying from overseas companies or sellers, surely? Customs have the right at any time to inspect goods coming into Australia... I think this is a privacy issue that we must accept as a consequences of the modern global age.

countessalmirena , todays promises become the lies tomorrow. What's deemed safe today is a complete bamboozle and a joke tomorrow. I have had to close down 2 email accounts due to spam that came from a so-called trusted source. Well, one of them anyway. I have also had a trusted organization forward my info to junk mail companies. Oh, and how do I know that? Well, the slight variation in my name (Mistakenly done by that trusted org) and also the new address confirmed it.
And as for a 3rd party that checks goods. That should only be customs which I never have a problem with. Nobody else! Mind you, they once confliscated a food item sent over from a relative. I looked at the list and then wanting to but deciding not to tell them they were a pack of twits, rung them up and said .. .. "Hey, you we'ren't supposed to take that item as it's permitted and a sealed food item and on the list of food items allowed. The reply was ... .. Oh, we'll look into it and let you know". Then the item arrived a week or so later with a note telling me what and was not allowed. LOL, my item was on the "allowed" list. Pretty sure there was no aplogy included. *SIGH*

The last slot car I purchased from the UK via the GSP was damaged due to having all the bubble wrap removed which was very annoying.
For some reason the seller had to help me out.
Which was totally different to the time I purchased an Airfix kit that was very badly damaged.
The seller in that instance directed me as what to do and I was fully refunded and he got to keep his money

I experienced that same problem with a very rare DVD set that was sent via Pitney Bowes' GSP. One disc was damaged to the extent that it was upplayable. And similary with yourr issue, rather than go through GSP, the seller at cost to herself, sent me replacement DVD.s.
What people need to realise is that we the buyers take time and effort out of our own lives to watch / monitor auctions and often items we purchase are a once-off opportunity. I have been able to make some lucky pick ups in my time and being refunded if an item is lost , stolen, damaged or in the case of the electric guitar being confliscated (mentioned by padi), doersn't compensate for the time, effort that is lost. And then there's a the disappointment of it all.

No! The seller had one more box-set. I mentioned this story before months ago. She purchased many rare sealed dvds (mainly documentaries) from a deceased estate. There were just 2 box sets of a certain release, Each set had multiple discs. I purcchased one set leaving her with one. When my parcel / package arrived (sent via Pitney Bowes and its useless packing), I found one of the discs to be damaged to the point where it was totally useless. I contacted the seller and tood her. She asked me if it was payable and I said that it wasn't. She said she would replace it. I suggested she send me the replacement disc. But she sent me (at cost to herself) all the discs minus the artwork though. She should have just sent me the replacement and tried to sell the set (advertised as having one disc missing). I even suggested she copy the disc but she was one of these old-school sellers that looks after the customer.
So the set was rare even if she had one other set as I have never seen it sold before or since.

Yes, GSP is a pain and expensive but it also lets people buy items that may not normally be offered here for sale. And also gives sellers an easy way to sell overseas that they may not normally do.
Some of my last purchases are a used Panasonic CF-31 laptop, used docking station, and used HDD caddies.
-The CF-31 with shipping and import charges etc. about 1/5 of the price out of the USA than it is here in Australia. There are heaps of used ones there, and very few here.
-The docking stations, I have never seen one on eBay here. I would likely have to buy new.... or go without because of new price.
-The HDD caddies, I am having a few problems with.... I think they are finally coming.... after raising a case as there was no show and no tracking on the first package after 60 days.
Shipping from USA for me, always less than 30 days after first scan. If you really need it NOW and can find it in Australia, buy it local or from Australia, that's a no brainer!!
The GSP is not perfect but it is an easy way to buy used goods that can not be found here or that are out of the price range of most people.
