Recently I bought an item from a seller in the US, paid for the item to be delivered to Australia via the Global Shipping Program. I was given a tracking number, which showed the progress of the delivery. However the progress changed from In Transit to Delivered in Erlanger, KY. I understand that with the GSP the seller posts the item to Pitney Bowes Inc. in Erlanger and they re-package it and send it to Australia. However, is it odd that the status says delivered? Will the tracking get updated with the new international tracking number and change back to in transit again? I've never used this service before and I'm a bit apprehensive. I've contacted the seller but they're as much clueless as me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You don't make it half difficult to follow, do you?
Your item is obviously being sent via the GSP which is shipped from Erlanger KY.
Reading from the posting of the item in Sacramento on the 14th, your item has travelled round the US till it's arrival in Erlanger KY on the 20th December. It will be repacked and the international shipping documentation will be prepared before it is handed to FedEx for shipping to AUstralia.
The GSP hub is in Erlanger KY and the item will not leave the US through any shipping portal than Erlanger.

FedEx delivers the item from Erlanger to Australia. They are usually sent with USPS within the USA.
If the tracking shows it is with FedEx it is probably on it's way to Australia.
The shipping cost is high but that is nothing new for the GSP....that is what everyone is complaining about. If you did not like it you should not have bought the item.

At least this thread is only a few months old....not many years.

yep, only 51 months

But there was a flurry of activity at the end of last year which would have kept the thread near the top of the list.

So I have tried to track it 5 times in the last three days. Only two times did the trsckings systems say it dxisted. Now, when I know it got to Erlanger, it has completely disappeared from the radar again. It is the most hopeless service.
Do US sellers know how bad this is? I guess they never get to realize why they never get international sales: things that sell for free post from HK can cost $70 from the US.
I suspect there might be more of a difference than just shipping cost between items sourced from HK and the US. And if you know HK is cheaper (and significantly closer to Australia than the USA, which might have something to do with it) why did you buy from the US?
As far as not getting international sales, they ship to the US, so they might not even know. They also might not WANT to sell overseas, given the way buyers can easily get goods for free through eBay.
