Hi,has any members had problems with the Global Shipping program. It would seem that another party has been added just to double our chances of a mistake. The contract is between buyer and seller on the ebay site and it is hard enough to recieve an item without damage and in a reasonable time without it being duplicated in the shipping process.Unable to contact the global Shipping Co so where do we get any help.

@imastawkawrote:There is no combined shipping with the GSP.
You would have seen the postage cost before you paid.
That would have been the time to back out of the purchase.
You won't get your excess postage refunded.
But some people don't know about the exploded / blown out cost of items. They just assume it will be a certain percentage more for multiple items. Not 4 or 5 times the shipping amount. It is a trap for many.

It is a fraudulent, excessive charging ON TOP of the postage already paid on the Ebay invoice - which included the overseas charge already. The charge bypassed ebay directly onto my Visa Card.
No, if a US or UK seller is using the GSP their postal charge is only domestic shipping to Pitney Bowes collection depot.
In your invoice it will show that charge plus a separate postal chage to the GSP for international shipping.

I now just close the tab when I see they use GSP. I NEVER had problems with normal postage from the UK and the USA so I don't see why I should now pay 3 times as much.

For future reference, other members here have said if you ask the seller
to put the dimensions and the weight into the listing, then the postage comes down.
By how much is anybody's guess.
GSP is cheaper postage if your item is heavy, apparently.
I avoid the GSP like the plague

That is all well and good if you can find sellers who do not use the GSP.
It used to be easy to bypass it but more and more sellers are using it now because of the protection it affords them.
The items are fully insured and tracked and the seller cannot get bad feedback for the speeed or cost of the shipping as ebay will remove it.

Yes, I have noticed that more and more sellers use it, but they are often not aware of how expensive it is (as I said in another thread). Some sellers could not believe how expensive it is when I told them how much I would have to pay for postage.
If a seller doesn't use it and has items I am interested in, I just save this seller.
I now often prefer to just check sellers I have saved rather than wasting time looking at items I am interested in with postage 3 times the price of the items because it is frustrating.

The only time I used it was when I bought a wooden case with microscope slides from the USA. The seller had many cases with different slides, all the same weight and size, but there was one where GSP was less than 1/2 the price of all the others. Maybe the seller had entered the wrong weight, I don't know. I paid about $25-28 for GSP, which is not bad for a small wooden case full of slides. GSP for all the other cases was over $50. The seller didn't say anything and just sent it.

For future reference, if you don't want a seller to post using the GSP then
ask in advance if they would opt out of the program. Most sellers don't even
know they've been opted in. Ebay opts them in automatically.
Make a note of these instructions for your future sellers -
To opt out of the GSP, US sellers only have to go into

the seller probably didn’t say anything because they probably didn’t notice the different GSP costs on the items.
The item you bought may well have had the weight and dimensions included in the listing specifics, leading to a more accurate cost for the shipping to Australia.
