How can I block the mature adult products advertising at my browser? I need to protect the children.

My children also use the site to search for products they may like. But there are sexually explicit, inapproapriate ads popping up. I don't think I can let them use again.

Stop using Internet Explorer for a start. Download Google Chrome or Firefox and install AdBlock Plus. Then you will get NO ads anywhere, pop up or otherwise.

You have to be 18 to use ebay so you cannot complain about adult material on the ebay site.

I am over 18 ... but still do want adult material flashed onto my screen

But, as usual, the persistant posters are not always right

.

You may have to be ... "over 18" to USE ebay ... that does not mean you have to be over 18 to view it

.

Just another time one of our prolific posters has it wrong

.

.

It is not over until the Fat Ladies post

So use adblockers and you won't get the ads.

How have I got it wrong?  There is nothing stopping ebay having adult material on their site.  If parents don't want their children seeing it then don't let them use the site.

It depends on what the images are of course as there are in fact several laws that apply.

eBay also has selling policies regarding adult material.

Its a shame eBay does not understand buyers the way it professes too, given there are buyers that may be offended by adult material for a range of reasons and not return to the site.

The OP states that the ads are "popping up" so I would assume that she is referring to sponsored ads rather than ebay listings.

If that is the case then ebay is at liberty to have those ads and the solution is an ad blocker in your browser.

If children are seeing adult content when using the computer unsupervised how is that ebay's fault especially as adult products are allowed on ebay sites other than the Australian one. If they are being supervised then you can control what they see, if you don't want pop ups don't allow them and use a decent net nanny program so they don't accidentaly see anything you don't want them to although I suspect most 10 year and up children know how to get round the nanny program and how to find things much worse than they will see on ebay.

In Australia on ebay.com.au site is subject to the same laws as everyone else.

There are strict guidelines regarding adult content on an  .au site - this includes pop ups.

It is eBays responsibility to put in the necessary systems to ensure that restricted content is not viewable on their au site.

Personally I don't think a net nanny solution is good for business.
