Prices on Australian websites are supposed to show prices inclusive of GST, aren't they?
I just bought something from the UK and GST was added *after* I confirmed the purchase, with no indication from ebay that this would happen, nothing on the item page to say the item was subject to GST. I'm not complaining that I have to pay the GST, I'm saying ebay needs to show the FINAL cost on the item page, or at least say that GST will be added.

When buying from overseas the GST has always been shown...if not the actual amount then at least the fact that the sale will be subject to the GST.
Are you sure you did not accidentally get transferred to the UK site?
If you are viewing on the UK site the GST would not show until you have purchased the item.

They don't dispay all-inclusive prices on international items because whether or not it's actually charged is reliant on the order total and shipping address, both of which are only confirmed at the checkout stage.

Every OS item I look at has "10% GST will apply" stated directly under the price in the search results.

This is the item I purchased, from the ebay Australia site:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/123407202877
Nowhere does it mention GST that I can see.
I didn't add it to my cart, I clicked "Buy it Now" which means I had already confirmed the purchase before seeing the final price.

Thats what I came up with too. But then again I was specifically looking for it. Also did a search for giant microbe water bear.
,every item in the search list showed 10% GST will apply, directly beneath the listed price. The only exception was for one item
from WA seller. So it would appear the info was available prior to purchase.

But that wasn't on the main page, you had to press postage & payment to see it.
I don't think that was galla's point.
I have to say, I have not bought from overseas lately but I have seen a few items for sale and all of them from overseas have had '10% GST will apply' on them. Clearly visible right there at the start, before you open the ad & when you open the ad, no need to go searching for it.

Ahgh, ran out of time to edit.
It looks as if that ad does show the gst but only in the listings, not once you open the ad.
I think it would be a lot better if ebay left it in the ad as well once people open it.
I was wrong in my first post, it only shows in the listings, not when you open the ad & that is crazy. It is when people open an ad that they are actually interested and might buy.
