A lot of sellers wouldn't see it in terms of victory (or defeat), just a simple exercise of choice. Most sellers don't view feedback they leave for buyers as any kind of gift, or something they hold over them, so withholding it similarly doesn't = a "so there, nerrr".

A seller may not be able to leave a buyer a negative, but if their experience with that buyer is negative, they probably don't want to leave them a positive.
A seller's experience with a buyer does not end as soon as the buyer pays, therefore a seller often will not comment on their experience with a buyer just because they pay.
Completely agree digi.
I was leaving fb straight away but one buyer who is or was under that ID also a big highly experienced seller decided to ruin my perfect 5* rating.
As a result I no longer leave fb until the Buyer has.

@tedndeez wrote:I agree, as a buyer or a seller, it is just a courtesy to leave feedback and only takes a minute (especially if it's been a pleasant outcome for both parties) but.....then again......if they are horrible, it's more tricky!
tendeez, I get where you are coming from but...........
It might only take a minute, but if you sell 100 -150 items a month thats a good two to three hours even at one minute an item. The principle is nice but personally I,ve got other things I,d rather do with a couple of hours. My stores are set to automatically leave feedback, but my auction only account needs to be done manually. This would often still sell the 100 - 150 items per month.
If I get a new ebayer with less than 20 feedbacks or an experienced buyer requests feedback, I always oblige immediatly, otherwise ???????.... Sorry, its just not that important to me. I come to ebay to sell stuff to people who want to buy it. For me its just a commercial transaction. I show respect to my buyers by packing their items well, mailing daily and just generally trying to provide the best service I can.
Feedback for sellers is a very usefull tool and has some merit. Feedback for buyers is of no use to anyone, as a buyer can only have 100% pos. feedback with positive comments. A seller cant see how many times a buyer delays payment, doesnt pay at all or just generally runs a seller round and round. Feedback left for buyers is often automated standard pulp which the sellers computer system randomly assigns to the buyer. ( I love it when sellers include "fast payment" as one of the standard auto responses ) It is simply a count of some of the purchases a buyer makes.
Now if ebay introduced standardised red dots for non paying buyers and standardised neutral dots for late payers, that would be a whole new ball game. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ...........wake me up when I finish dreaming. ...........

Well, chameleon, I have to admit, when I first registered with ebay (October) I didn't even know feedback existed! And that buyers could only receive Pos,which seems pointless now but I remember being quite excited getting my first feedbacks! Pity there's not a more honest system. Can understand your time issue, have only small amount of sales myself so don't have that problem. Happy selling!

I think that if you have an actual shop people will come into it and steal things. It is possible to curtail that by conducting bag checks within the limits of the law on each and every customer. The majority of customers who never steal from the shop will tend to find the implication irritating.
Imagine if the bag checks were utterly pointless.
No doubt they will find the courage to remove buyer's feedback altogether eventually.

fb means didley squat anyhow - otherwise why have Ebay got dozens of sellers with hundreds of negatives - they are still selling. no problem.
