is it reasonable that the global shipping joke charges $75 to ship the same item?

Give it time. It won't be long.

In response to action over global shipping, especially the import charges on small items...over 20percent of purchase price in my recent case...the action to me seems clear. I will give negative feedback and encourage others to do same. It might make sellers give ebay some grief too as it is unfair the larger part of some transactions is cut out of the feedback system. The gps charge for shipping was clear on ad but the import charge was not.
All that will do is encourage sellers to use the GSP, and thank eBay for protecting them against buyers such as yourself, lol.
If you want sellers to think twice about using the GSP, you have to convince them that they are missing out on something they want, and they definitely don't want buyers who leave them negs cos they didn't check all the charges they'd have to pay up front.

I am a pretty dxpdrienced ebay user and I don't recall ever seeing the import charge at the ad. A note saying it may be charged but not the amount. And as I had never had it applied before I did not expect it at checkout. Live and learn. Negative feedback is warranted as the transaction with gps is the sellers choice. If they don't read their small print that is their fault.
If ebay disgrees with this they could not add what amounts to a second transaction ( a separate invoice on paypal) that has no feedback mechanism but the litany of complaints on this forum and many others.

You are missing the point - negative feedback will be removed, it's one of the reasons the GSP is so attractive to sellers. If you leave a neg, all you will do is convince the seller they made the right choice by using the GSP.
"If they don't read their small print that is their fault".
Irony, much?
Use the cart - all charges will be shown there before you commit to buy, then you can avoid surprises for yourself, and revealing the fact that you're inclined to blame others for you not reading the fine print.

Two reasons to leave negative feedback. They can delete it , but the seller realises there are issues with listing.
No - if you take that as an action, the seller will just consider they have a problem buyer, not that there are genuine issues they need to be concerned about with the GSP.
Why not just send them a quick and polite message, outlining your concerns? Why does a negative have to be the first thing that is thought of when someone wants to convey or communicate a concern about something? It solves nothing, and points the focus on the wrong issue.
