You may very well find that you have fewer buyers too lovebeautypro.
The scenario works both ways...why should a buyer be out of pocket because a seller does not send and and/or AP does not deliver.
If ebay is going to promote paypal as a safe payment method which sellers have to offer, then that protection must be available to all buyers and sellers 100% of the time, not just when paypal decides they will cover the buyer/seller.

Whilst there is little doubt that there is those that make fraudulent claims - putting a standard limit on paypal claims seems to me very unfair, if it is true and could erode buyer (and seller) confidence.
I spend thousands and thousands of dollars on ebay all processed via paypal - I have no problems with receiving most of purchases in great condition as described, however there are a relatively small amount where something goes wrong.
If there is a possibility that I could lose my buyer protection, and as a flow on an ability to accept paypal payments as a seller, over several purchases out of the 1000 plus transactions I have as a buyer and a seller in a year, then I have little choice but to give some consideration to rethinking my purchasing via ebay - paypal to ensure my business can continue to offer paypal.

but there are some who are just abusing the system.
it is not so difficult to weed those out, but that should be left to AP who have the means to know if it is just this person in the particular area not getting items. That is why it is important that every seller (not just eBay) files every missing item with AP. Then it is up to police, and only if it is found that this person (not their neighbour) is really committing fraud that PP should be notified and take their own action. Why would anybody want to punish the victim?
However, it may be a good idea for people who lose small items to have a really good look at their mail box. If we want to have items delivered it may pay to invest in large, deep, locked and safe mail box.

Yes but how can one buyer be so unlucky though to have more than 2-3 claims of items not received, sounds suss to me, unless there is tampering with the mail by neighbours and so forth but if that was me i would definitely get things sent registered in the mail, wouldnt you??

In six years of buying also from ebay as well as selling, i purchase all the time from ebay myself and there is only one or two parcels i have not received and i do buy alot. Just doesnt sound right to me.

gosh lovebeautypro - some sellers simply do not get around to posting or do not intend to post !
particularly new sellers who achieve very low prices at auction X-(
how do I know - because it has happened to me several times - and indeed when I have opened a paypal dispute a few weeks later after no response to messages - its interesting that a number of these have turned up in packages with post date stamp after dispute was opened.

By the time you would realise that you have several items missing it is bit too late to be requesting registered post.
Over the years, and few thousands of on line purchases, I have only lost handful; the most recent ones were $2 packet (free post) of beads from China, and $4 piece of lace trim from China, now I have close to $50 (including postage) parcel from UK very overdue. It has no tracking; if it did it would not be worthwhile getting it. Previously, there was one item, which I am quite sure was never sent (bit of a bargain), and another bit of lace (under $10). i suspect that as we seem to have a different postie every other day, they are not particularly careful and most likely just delivered the items to somebody in the next street, who kept it. i often get letters addressed to someone else; in next street or somewhere. There is no way I would be willing to pay extra $3.15 (or whatever for o/s purchase) for these cheep items.
Sellers of cheap items have to add few cents to each sale as an insurance, and one goes missing use the money to refund. Simple, no need to bother PP. That is what I do, and if the item is so much that I would not want to cover it if to goes MIT, I offer only tracking or registered. Would not be waiting for the buyer to choose tracking.

I didnt say they were all lying, i have around 5 customers saying their items have not arrived, now what can i do other than repost, out of those 5 how many do you think are telling the truth???
Unfortunately i have no proof so i have to believe they are being honest, this hits close to home at the moment because its rediculous on how many parcels i have refunded or resent just in the last few weeks.

I suggest that you contact the Financial Ombudsman Service and explain to them your complaint in full, as this is quite a disturbing turn of events.
Their URL is http://www.fos.org.au/centric/home_page.jsp
I completely agree with cq, contact them ASAP, I'd be particularly concerned that they wont let you removed you bank details. I'd be contacting the bank too.

Registered post is no guarantee that items will not go missing...it just makes it easier for the seller to claim on Australia Post.
I have been getting regular small padded envelopes from Adelaide, sent by Registered post...all have arrived safely in 4 days. The last one I reported missing after 6 days but AP would not even look for it before 14 days. It has never turned up.
