Is this proof of not as described?

This is the original sherri hill 2970, it has different shaped rhinestones and there are more of them (links below)

This is the dress I was sent, it has oval shaped rhinestones and there are only two rows on the top

The dress was described as the exeact 2970 Sherri hill in pink and the seller used the first picutre I posted of the authentic dress in pink, is that enough proof?

Forgot to add that there is no serial number to prove it is not fake.

Re: Is this proof of not as described?

Hi; Whilst I have no idea of designer fashion it seems from your pictures that the item you received is not the same quality or much like the photos you supplied of dress you received. Were the first pics in the listing you purchased?

I'm assuming you paid via Paypal. Any SNAD (keyword here is significantly) will require that you send the dress back via a trackable method for refund, except where the item is a fake or postage costs would prohibit return (Both of which you will need to prove). Was the seller from China? They are notorious for using photos to replicate dresses (mostly bridal) & then sending a poor facsimilie of the dress ordered. They also make to your own picture, but once again the dress is of poor quality & workmanship.

The first dress is very pretty . The item you received is poorly sewn & basically unfinished inside (this I do know about) & looks to have glue on rhinestuds to front.

Re: Is this proof of not as described?

Hi, thanks so much for your reply.

The first picture of the pink authentic dress was in the listing however it was not zoomed in on like I have.

The rhinestones are sewn on but are obviously different.

The seller is from Australia and wanted me to send the dress back before the weekend though they gave me no address and I don't

trust them.

I did pay with paypal and the funds are being held for now.

The seller said he would not accept the dress back after the weekend.

Re: Is this proof of not as described?

I read something in the news recently about Sherri Hill Copy dresses.

Sherri Hill are becoming quite aggressive at 'outing' these Suppliers and I seem to remember them taking one Supplier to court very recently.

I think you may be correct  as to the dress you received as the things to look for in copy dresses are sub standard sewing,i.e. unfinished seams etc...  cheap fabric and - poor quality beads or rhinestones.

If your Seller becomes reluctant to refund you I suggest you mention that Sherri Hill might be very interested in where she is sourcing her dresses.

Re: Is this proof of not as described?

The original Sherri Hill is absoutely divine. Th dress you have looks like a copy from China. While a lot is now manufactured in China it is done so under license and strict quality controls are in place for garments manufactued under license by the Brand owners. This  is not a good copy nor in my opinion is it a well constructed garment no matter the brand. Proving it is another matter.

IMO the dress is significantly not as described and is defective.

There are a couple of really good online companies that deal in Sherri Hill amongst other designers. Their items are genuine and the customer service is fabulous. They are USA companies but do ship to Aus. Their prices are very competitive. It could be serendipity,  if you are looking for simpydresses.

I hope you get your money back.

Re: Is this proof of not as described?

This is the email I would send to the seller:

I am more than willing to go through the Paypal dispute process in order to get my refund but I will most certainly not be returning the fake garment to you. I uderstand on advice from other members that Sherri Hill are pro active in trying to stop the sale of counterfeit items. I am more than happy to go through the company to obtain proof of the item being counterfeit which could result in you being prosecuted. I can accept that you perhaps did not realise this item was fake so I am prepared to destroy it and send you proof of having done so after you action a full refund however the only place I will send it to wil be the Sherri Hill head office.

Re: Is this proof of not as described?

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I called paypal and they have changed my dispute to a claim and are going to refund me before I have to send the dress back.

I have bought genuine Sherri hill, tony bowls etc... before so I had a bad feeling from the moment it came in green paper (the originals I have all came in a plasic bag on a coat hanger).

Lesson learned, stick to authorised sellers from now on...

Re: Is this proof of not as described?

They sure are a lucky seller, it must be easy for them when there are 10 items purchased by one buyer and another buyer has purchased 5 or 6 items.

Lucky them, with their feedback rising so rapidly.

AS for contacting the company, don't tell them you bought anything on ebay, just phone them to dob in any seller you think is selling fakes.
