Issue with address, agreed to cancel then re-list, sold to someone else...

This is more to vent as I know there is nothing I can do.

So, 1 of a kind card for auction. There is no others like it, this is the only one.

I win the auction.

I pay for the item. I realise after paying that the estimated delivery time is after I move out of my then current address.

My fault.

I contact the seller about it. They say they don't know what to do. A week later after no correspondence the item is marked as posted. I contact the seller about it. They say they didn't post it they just marked it as posted so they wouldn't get a warning. They still say they don't know what to do. They then message me again a few days later saying that I had to submit a cancel request so they could re-list the item for me to buy again. As it was marked as posted I couldn't submit a cancel request.

I woke up this morning to a message from the seller saying they unmarked it as posted, cancelled the item and re-listed it and I just had to send in the offer.

I was asleep when these messages were sent at 4:30am due to timezones.

As I expected I went to go put an offer on the item and it has been sold to someone else.

The seller has not replied to my 5+ messages regarding this.

I put it so much effort and apologised so many times for my error to make sure I got this item to the right address and the exact thing I tried to prevent happened. Now some other buyer gets the card that I've been monitoring for weeks to resolve.

I know there is nothing I can do now but leave negative feedback, I just wanted to vent and see if anyone else has had similar situations.

Again, if I had changed my address to being with, I would have gotten the card, it is ultimately my fault, but I believe I remained very professional and did everything I could to resolve the issue and the seller decided to do the wrong thing.

Actually no, but I do know about re-direction, but I wouldn't have purchased that option as I changed my address for everything else expect eBay obviously

My money is on your forgetting someone else.

You always forget to notify someone when you move.

Hope you've changed your address with ebay and Paypal now.

Not to mention anything that had already been sent in the meantime or anything you are'nt expecting

A small price in the long run if it avoids things containing personal details/information going to the wrong hands

WHAT ????  Leave a neg for the seller when they cancelled for you and relisted for you? They did nothing wrong as far as I can see, it was just bad luck that you didn't win on the relist - admittedly the seller could have relisted with no photos and a high BIN with "best offer" on it, but they may not have known to do that.

Please, they have negative feedback that states they have done similar things to other buyers.

It took 2 weeks of me constantly messaging them to do aynthing about it while my money was sitting in their bank account.

They accepted a "best offer" from someone else, after agreeing that they would accept MY "best offer"

JMHO both buyer and seller could have handled it better. Though it also seems both buyer and seller didn't know at the time how to handle it better. They are in an undesirable position now as well, because no mattee what they have to let someone down.

The seller did obviously try to find a solution they thought would work for you both, but it's not possible to prevent someone else from buying an item - at best the seller can only make it less likely.

I just chatted with an eBay representative that agrees that the seller has done a sly move by accepting a "best offer" higher than what I originally won it for. I didn't expect them to do anything about it but they are going to contact the seller about it to try and convince them to send the item to me.

Yeah the call centre workers in Phillipines often say things to get a member off the phone on a too hard issue.

I'd say they told you that to get you passive and next you will hear, sorry we can't do anything, or you won't hear back.

And considering it was your issue to begin with and the seller trying to help, I think a neg is way too harsh.

Negs on eBay earn defects which can affect a seller's livelyhood, unlike feedback on google reviews etc.

I realise from my short statement it would seem the seller was cooperative but as stated, it took me weeks of pestering them to respond to my messages. They have at least 12 negative feedbacks, I have none.

I was chatting to the eBay representative and they actually gave me a lot of more genuine answers than I have ever experienced on eBay. They even told me they were a top seller and somewhat probably more information than they're supposed to give.

Kopes, negs don't get defects anymore.

Negan, I don't think you'll get your item.   Ebay was just being 'nice'

I'd say the seller has already posted it to the other buyer.
