I purchased an item in early October in Australia and waited over 2 weeks for it without it even being marked as posted so opened an item not received case and requested a refund as I thought this was a bit dodgy. Lo and behold, I can see by the postmark that it suddenly got posted that day. Now I've received it but it's not as listed being only cheap 9ct gold instead of the expensive 22ct listed. What do I do now? If I close the not received case, will it come up with an item not as described as at the moment that option doesn't show?

It was listed as 875 yellow gold.
No marks were visible. Buyer obviously took seller's word for it.
I'm assuming that the stamp was not 875 when it arrived.
And only a fool would disregard the MBG process for that amount of money
If she ignores the dispute, who says the seller's word is any good?
We can see how well that worked in the listing

If the seller has sent the item with tracking and/or signature required they can close the case themselves by sending proof to ebay and then the buyer will be up the proverbial creek.
The buyer needs to get onto this quickly.

There are so many things wrong with that listing that I would be changing the dispute to Not As Described and getting my money back.
The description variously says 22ct gold, 21ct gold and 875.....875 is 21ct and more likely to be used in India for a pendant in that style.
The listing describes it as a reproduction made between 1935 and 1990 yet it is listed in the Vintage and Antique Jewellery section.
I am guessing that the WA seller has bought reproduction jewellery from India and has had to wait for it to arrive, hence the delay in posting to you.

The pendant is marked with what looks like (to me) 375 for 9ct gold and is not the deep gold colour of high carat gold. Seller may just have mistaken the stamp but I didn't want to contact them until I can get it to the jeweller to verify as I am reluctant to use my acids on it. Also I don't like complaining to a seller unless I have checked up first.
How do you all know which item it was? I thought purchases were all private now.

Just taken close ups of the stamp - sure as heck looks like a 3 to me. what do others think?

It certainly looks like 375 to me as well and I can't think of any other number that it could otherwise be.
Regarding your previous question - "How do you all know which item it was? I thought purchases were all private now." - there is a website (that's allowed by eBay) that shows purchases during the previous month or so which gives that information.
You have a personal message.

yes there is a website that certain posters here use , by the way i am against the use of this whithout the ops authorisation.
i haved asked that posters ask the op if its ok , personly a violation of privacy, but certain posters just do it anyway.
so i would advice you if you ever come here again and dont want posters looking at your past buying just say so and i am sure they will oblidge.

Yes, it is definitely a 3....so 9ct gold not the 21 or 22ct that is in the listing.

hey joe, how about referring posters to the thread that shows them how to block their purchase history from ever being viewed? If you need help in how to copy and paste the website address then just ask and I'll guide you through it with pics and all!
