Item partly received.... What's reasonable

I ordered some sheets about two weeks ago and they haven't arrived. I contacted the seller who tracked them down with the courier and I was advised that they would be delivered late this week early next week. I'm ok with this, annoyed, but whatever....

Then today I get a phone call from the courier who said that my package is sitting at a bus terminal in the next town waiting for me to pick it up. I'm annoyed at this because:
- I shop online so I don't have to drive to the next town
- the next town is 25 minutes away
- I have to pick it up today or tomorrow

I'm really annoyed, I understand it isn't really the sellers fault but I paid $15 for delivery to my door, now I have to drag my children (and my own arse) into the next town to pick the stupid parcel up.

I'm tempted not to pick it up and lodge a INR.

I know I'm grumpy but what would others do in this situation?

Did the seller stated in their listing they will be sending the item with courier?  If not I would just contact them and tell them you are unable to collect it from wherever it was left and will be returned to them. Then I would open INR.

This is exactly why I avoid items that will be sent with courier.  My latest hassle was only last week (non eBay purchase).  I had a message that it was picked up Friday morning, and so Monday morning I went to the tracking site to see if they will deliver that day; it said that it was delivered on Friday at 3.15!!!  Just as I was madly looking for a phone number to call and abuse, the parcel was dumped on my doorstep, and the driver was screeching away before I had a chance to have a word.  Guess at least I did not have to drive 1/2 hour to collect it, but then again I did not agree to have $150 parcel dumped on my front step.

I would contact the seller before I did anything else.

I would politely let them know what has occurred, and wait for their response and proposed resolution before I did anything else.

Tell the lazy courier to deliver it to your house or you will lay a complaint.

For $15.00 I would expect it to be brought to my door.

the listing says australia post parcel and sig but the tracking says courier.

i pretty much sent me message here to the seller and am waiting a response.

the courier texted me the details (after he had rung) and I am tempted to text back saying we paid for delivery so deliver.  He told me on the phone that he has gone out of business

Sounds like a TERRIBLE courier company I dealt with recently.

I would not go and pick it up. If the listing says AP and the seller didn't send it that way, it's their problem.

You pay for postage door to door for this very reason.

I'd stick to my guns Wardy and not go and pick it up. The seller can re-deliver to you or fight their courier. It's not your problem.

Wardy, this company is "new".

A little while ago I was searching for some satchels here on eBay and saw some for Priority X Couriers so I had a look. There was a website so I checked it out and it seemed great. I had a parcel at the time that I needed to send to WA (from Syd) so I did an online quote. Came back at $17.50. I thought that was impossible, so I rang the office.

Spoke with the owner, Patrick. Yes, it was $17.50 because they were a new company trying to gain a reputation. I booked in my parcel and immediately had issues. Firstly, they "forgot" to take my payment. I had to actually call back and ask how I was to pay them. RED FLAG! They took my payment over the phone and I ignored the flag, giving them to benefit of the doubt ... new company any all.

Two days in a row I got the run around why the courier hadn't picked up my item. Eventually they picked it up and delivered it rather quickly to WA. BUT, I received my first ever neutral for "slow" postage on that item. I presume because the courier picked it up late, my buyer wasn't happy.

Anyway, situation two. I needed to have 4 wheels and tires shipped from Melbourne to me in Sydney. I called Patrick at Priority X and he informed me he'd definitely be able to do it and he'd come back to me with a quote. The next day, he told me it would be around $120 and I said I wouldn't pay more than $100 because if I were to use their online site and book them in as separate items, I could pay $17.50 per wheel as that price was for 60x60x60 and 25kg.

He said he'd come back to me again with a price. I waited and waited, kept phoning, kept getting the run around. Eventually after a week, I used a different courier. Cost me $80 door-to-door for the 4 wheels.

It's now been about a month and I'm STILL waiting for Patrick to contact me. All this after him ENSURING he would definitely deliver them for me and to not use anyone else.

Only 4 days ago, I wrote to him explaining my disgust in their "new" company and telling him I would never use them again. He'd initially asked me to recommend them. Not a chance.

He still didn't respond.

Now they've told you they are out of business.

Wardy, I would not pick up those sheets. Your seller can deal with them and send you another set.

That courier is bad news!

I sent Patrick a text back stating that I don't understand how he can expect me (via the seller) who has paid for the item to be delivered to my door to go and pick it up.

his response was:

I can have it delivered Tuesday after the long weekend if you prefer but I was unsuccessful in getting a driver today.  I have considerable amount of parcels all over the country I am arranging to get to the customer since the business has closed and the quickest option for your parcel as it has arrived from Sydney and now in toowoomba was suggesting a pick up as I couldn't get a driver today.

i paid for this item on 22 May so needless to say I am pretty annoyed...... But who is at fault? Does the seller deserve a neutral? Or maybe a negative?
