Item partly received.... What's reasonable

I ordered some sheets about two weeks ago and they haven't arrived. I contacted the seller who tracked them down with the courier and I was advised that they would be delivered late this week early next week. I'm ok with this, annoyed, but whatever....

Then today I get a phone call from the courier who said that my package is sitting at a bus terminal in the next town waiting for me to pick it up. I'm annoyed at this because:
- I shop online so I don't have to drive to the next town
- the next town is 25 minutes away
- I have to pick it up today or tomorrow

I'm really annoyed, I understand it isn't really the sellers fault but I paid $15 for delivery to my door, now I have to drag my children (and my own arse) into the next town to pick the stupid parcel up.

I'm tempted not to pick it up and lodge a INR.

I know I'm grumpy but what would others do in this situation?

Re: Item partly received.... What's reasonable

I just went in to decline the cancellation request and it says under the option of accepting

You should only accept the cancellation request if you haven't paid yet or you've already received your refund from the seller. If you haven't received your refund, contact the seller

So, I have emailed the seller that, and if I don't get a refund by morning I will open the PP dispute

If support gave her the advice to not refund me then they are just as bad as the courier dude 🙂

Re: Item partly received.... What's reasonable

Ebay staff may well have said that to seller, but it is incorrect information, as by accepting a cancellation you are then unable to process a linked ebay and paypal dispute. The option to open a dispute via ebay through to paypal disappears when you accept cancellation.

Before opening a paypal dispute  (due to complexity that item has been sent and seller is likely to have proof)  I would personally give it one more go to get a refund straight from seller,

Indicate to seller that you are only willing to accept a cancellation after you receive your goods or get a refund, and that you have no problem in accepting the cancellation so they get their fees back, if the matter is resolved quickly.
