The whole GSP (Global Shipping Program) is a typical eBay abortion.
I think the easy way to send a message to eBay US Sellers who use GSP is to leave them Negative Feedback when an item doesn't arrive which was shipped using GSP.
Unfair against the Seller you say....well it sure is, however I email them first and advise what I'm doing and why.
Most understand and simply Opt-Out of the GSP, or has been the more common result they deal with you direct.
Ebay are just SO DUMB, they can't run anything right and will now lose even more customers and $$$$$.
Thanks eBay, but the US Seller and I have just concluded a transaction outside eBay on the same items your GSP said couldn't be shipped to Australia (which of course was wrong as chainsaws are perfectly legal in Australia) you MUPPETS

Well, I wasn't the one who bumped up this one. I believe it was liisa.t who actually and understandably brought up a valid point.

It is hardly a valid point when the information is wrong.
The GSP does not automatially put an Authority to Leave on all parcels.
I have never seen an ATL on any item from either the UK or the USA which has been shipped via the GSP.

I hear what you are saying Lyndal, but I have no reason to doubt Lisa as she said the parcel was left in clear view of passers by. I'm sure she didn't make it up.
I won't go into it now but one of the very few occasions I had a transaction involving GSP it was a shambles and I (Under threat of having my video tapes sent back to the US) had to provide other personal info to a 4th party. Also the packing was shoddy.
So I was not impessed.

I doubt that you will find anybody on these boards who is impressed with the GSP but we just have to work with it if we want to buy from sellers who use it.
I am not doubting that Lisa's parcel was left in full view of passersby...I have had it happen as well. That is between Lisa and the delivery person.....it has nothing to do with the GSP in general.
What I took issue with was Lisa's statement that all GSP parcels have an Authority to Leave....that is wrong.

I hear what you say but it would be a case of the cavalier delivery crew being involved because Golbal Shipping being used by the seller. Or the seller having it thrust on them.
If it was USPS to Aust Post then it would be a different story. A better result!
AFAIK, Global Shipping / Pitney Bowes doesn't enable delivery to PO boxes.
So buyers are paying double, triple postage costs and having items left around. Yes not by Pitney Bowes, but definitely in Lisa's case, as a result of Pitney Bowes involvement.

Just gotta have the last word, even if it's stretching it.
Why not blame Qantas or whoever, for their involvement?

Why would USPS be any different as far as delivery in Australia is concerned. GSP deliveries in Australia are done by FedEx themselves or another courier company on their behalf if FedEx does not deliver in your area. Small items are usually given to AP for delivery as an eParcel.
It is true that items shipped through the GSP cannot be delivered to a PO box by FedEx.....no courier company can deliver to a PO box so that is not a particular negative for the GSP. Items given to Australia Post should be able to be delivered to a PO box if they have been addressed to a PO box. I don't know from experience as I don't use a PO box.
Anyone who has a problem with the delivery of a GSP item in Australia should take their complaint to the company who delivered it in Australia.....it is nothing to do with Pitney Bowes once they have handed it to FedEx.
