Leaving feedback on bad sellers

Hi team recently purchased some brand new car parts from an online retailer. Paid in full then waited 3 days to be told they don’t actually have the items in stock…  they have issued a refund but I am unable to leave feedback on my experience. I want to warn other buyers of this behaviour. I couldn’t buy off anyone else as I was waiting for my refund.

If the order has been cancelled, you have to scroll down to the bottom of your purchase history to find cancelled orders and be able to leave feedback.

You can also click on Awaiting Feedback on the left side of your eBay Summary (I have found cancelled orders there too).

Re: Leaving feedback on bad sellers

You are aware that there are massive worldwide logistical delays at present, and that large quantities of stock is not where it is supposed to be, not even in the right countries, let alone delivered to distributors on time.

For many years now, the retail practice  has been  STOCK ON TIME,   which relates to constant supply of sufficient stock, rather than having to purchase, stock and store, extensive bulk inventory, and passing on the extra costs to the consumer.    This practice is currently operating under extreme circumstances, lack of supply, lack of shipping, extreme lack of shipping containers  (unloaded containers not being returned to point of need)  etc, etc, etc.

Leave whatever FB you feel like, but please consider the circumstances stockists are currently operating under.  You might also like to consider that the seller has already been penalised by ebay,  loss of  FVF

and  service metric defect recorded, which can eventuate in the seller having to pay increased fees.

Re: Leaving feedback on bad sellers

I get that but as a buyer I honestly take it for granted that the item is in stock like they claim. I see an item listed. If I decide to buy I pay 2 seconds later. Very frustrating when after a couple of days you are told its lost, not available or not in stock. This started as a dollar and cents type of deal and the only worry was really the seller not going through with the sale. Now there are people who make a living off the site and even bigger players now. But really if its advertised then it should be available. Some good sellers even have a count of the said item and when its 0 then that's it. No problem. Just my view as a buyer.

Mainly talking about the red bit.

As a buyer, I won't take this into account except under really special circumstances. Why should a buyer have to consider it if a seller hasn't? Sure, there are worldwide delays, but I would expect a seller to know that too and advertise accordingly.

If they haven't got the stock and they know delivery time is iffy, don't list it. Easy.

It's not as if this is a new thing they have been hit with unexpectedly, we are 2 years into the pandemic.

So if a seller gets hit with loss of FVF or a service metric defect, so be it. Sometimes that might be the only way to get them to be a bit more careful in future.

Re: Leaving feedback on bad sellers

Late to the party with my 2 cents worth.

The OP wants to leave feedback for bad sellers... yet leaves no feedback for good sellers.

The OP wants to warn others... yet ignored all the negs the seller had for the same issue.

Seems odd to me.

Re: Leaving feedback on bad sellers

I want to assume that when a product's website (or eBay listing) states that an item is in stock, it is in stock.

However, it doesn't hurt to contact the company/seller, just to be sure. Ultimately, I want a no-problem purchase-and-delivery process.

If the seller lies to me about its status, then it's another matter. I go from blue alert to red alert, and yes, I know that means changing the bulb.

Re: Leaving feedback on bad sellers

Once I tried to purchase an item. The listing said "last one" but I could not add it to my cart. I tried other items from the same seller and could add them without any problem. I tried that item again - it didn't work. A few hours later the listing said "out of stock". I think it was already out of stock when I tried to add it to my cart, but I don't know why the listing still said "last one". I have heard this sometimes happens on the other site starting with E too (that the listing still says "last one" for a few hours even if the item is out of stock). However, as I said, I could not even add it to my cart, which is better than buying just to be told the item is out of stock.
