As if i wasn't paying too much on fees already on my imported fishing reels.

Ebay fees, Paypal fees, Currency Conversion Fees, and now this ridiculous import fee ???

Oops, you will still pay GST.

As a buyer you don't pay eBay or Paypal fees, so you are obviously an reselling importer. God forbid you having to pay anything to the Australian Government.

Otherwise, if you are paying tax on your sales, the GST on the import is either a deductible expense or can be offset against your GST obligation.

Given you using the term 'import charge', you seem to be using the Global Shipping Program. Notoriously expensive and inefficient. You would be better off sourcing your product from sellers who don't use it. Or source through sites other than eBay.

You'll still have to pay GST, though.

You can blame Australian Government,  for the new GST on low value imports, which has also  led to the inclusion of additional import charges.   The Australian Government, despite all there free trade agreement claims, simply do not want the general public

to buy from overseas.

OP might need to find a different line of goods to sell. Even with the GST on all imports now, I am still able to make between 5000 and 10000% profit on my items. 

Yes OP, that is ten thousand. Not a typo.

I don't give a toss about GST on imports. It doesn't affect my bottom line one bit.

Things are getting tough desertraptor229 , you definitely know something's up when you are paying fees today that you weren't yesterday. You post highlights this. This is sad and mostly unjust and I do agree with you. I hope you find a better way.
