NEW SCAM ALERT

I have been with ebay since 2005, in that time I have never been scammed UNTIL NOW

Purchased 2 office chairs - ID member had no feedback and was new to ebay, gave him an opportunity to get feedback,

viewing now so did 10 other people.

No sign of any goods, he has not answered 5 emails I sent looking for goods - NO REPLY

I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED , BEWARE of New ebayers with no feedback ..

I believe other buyers have not left feedback yet, maybe they are still unaware the chairs are NOT coming

Hope this helps everyone BUYING on Ebay

Re: NEW SCAM ALERT

I think the problem might have been posting the item.

Listing says ebay satchel $7.50  No way was it going to post for that amount.

Further down in the listing it says Pick up

So unless you want to loose your money or even consider trusting ebay money back guarrantee from ebay which you will get this sort of story. Its left up to you to chase themoney which is what scammers understand. And as ebay and paypal are brothers in arms you will always loose. Just hope this sends a message and has severly curtailed my ebay purchases.

It's a pick up item so why didn't you pay when you went to pick it up

Then you should've checked the eBay money back guarantee first before purchasing,(which has always been

the case that you have use a safe payment method) :

http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/policies/money-back-guarantee.html

it clearly states that you have to pay via a safe payment method and by paying by Paypal eBay can

retrieve the payment.

If you pay by Bank Deposit then eBay can't access those funds so obviously can't take that payment back,(

so it's not a safe payment method).

Try reporting it to Acorn,(the cyber crime online reporting agency) : https://www.acorn.gov.au/

Re: NEW SCAM ALERT

Sure its postage cost that prevented item being sent for an extra $10 bucks

My gripe is that this was tried as paypal payment as most of my payments unless i pick up and that is even rare  and it was refused because of the seller even though paypal payment was listed for t his item it simply came up as his account details. Do you think after some 1400 purchase items i am not aware of this?

This was a setup from the start that overcome paypal as an option that basically refused paypal interaction, that is more the threat particularly asit was  a buy it now. proposition

So my basic conclusion after this and many years as a purchaser on ebay that ebays purchaser guarantee is not worth the paper its written on totally worthless and offers no protection especially if item is over $500 even when communicating with ebay their standard platitudes that you will get your money back is like waiting in cue for the land tax office.

so even the fact that payment is made, item not provided trackinged or received stands for nothing.  Yet payment has been aknowledged.Sure i can through my bank and other suggestions but the cost is more than the $600 lost. So i dont want to spend lots $,S chasing my loss.  Karma will soon catch up. And justice will be addressed in future.

My feeling is like the shopkeepers who have stuff stolen, who post the photographs of the thieves in their own name and shame the culprits as they have no other means of discouraging the practice of stealing. Wish ebay would do the same  but they are quite happy to accept the sellers fee for the transaction.

As youmay be  well aware once you start the long chase to recover, yes i have learnt a lesson even in my late years but what it shows is the fictitious nature of modern technolgy and its prevalent of scammers and dishonesty  in all aspects of living whether its insurance scams , banking services, romance scams and the whole gammit of the industry.

I took ebay at their word that there was buyer protection but thats is totally non existan when it comes to part with some money as i have learnt from this exercise. So to my eyesto some degree it is false advertising it is not genuine.

all the best

Re: NEW SCAM ALERT

You paid via bank, you DO NOT qualify for buyer protection. It's not a set up, it's not a scam, there was no conspiricy against you, you weren't protected. How do you think eBay is going to retreive the money from someone's bank account? As an experienced buyer, you should know that cash on pick up is the best option for pick up items.

Sorry, I know you have lost a lot of money, but you really only have yourself to blame. The MBG CLEARLY states the requirements for you to be eligible. You weren't eligible, plain and simple as that. You best bet is to start following up with the suggestions eBay gave you, because they have absolutely no way of getting your money back from the seller. If you want it back, you have to chase it. If you don't, you lose, not eBay.

There is no false advertising. They advertise very clearly the requirements to be eligible for the MBG, buyer protection. You were not eligible. Just because you prevented yourself from being eligible, doesn't mean it's false advertising.

Re: NEW SCAM ALERT

If he is a registered business with an ABN then you can go after your money through Fair Trade and/or the small claims court.

Why on earth would you imagine ebay should cover you, their policyexcluses them covering any payment made by bank deposit, they would be breaching their own policies if they went after your payment.

Unfortunately, this transaction doesn't meet the requirements for coverage under eBay Money Back Guarantee.

As a buyer, you can open a case with eBay Money Back Guarantee on eBay.com.au when all of the following are true:
• You're not suspended at the time of the purchase.
• You bought the item on eBay.com.au (or any of the other covered sites: eBay.com, eBay.ca, eBay.co.uk, eBay.de).
• You opened the case within 30 days of the item's delivery date / estimated delivery date.
You paid with PayPal or a credit card, using eBay checkout.
• The item is not excluded from eBay Money Back Guarantee based on its category (like Motors or Real Estate).
• You didn't alter/repair the item (if you're claiming the item was faulty or broken).
• You haven't initiated another resolution process (like with your bank or credit card company).

As you can see, your case is not eligible because of you have paid the item Via Bank transfer. I know this seems like a long list of requirements, but without all these factors we can't provide the comprehensive coverage that our buyers need.

- Consider contacting law enforcement. Please ask the investigating officer to contact us from this page: http://pages2.ebay.com.au/Law_enforcement.

So unless you want to loose your money or even consider trusting ebay money back guarrantee from ebay which you will get this sort of story. Its left up to you to chase themoney which is what scammers understand. And as ebay and paypal are brothers in arms you will always loose. It has nothing to do with eBay or the money back guarantee because you paid by BANK DEPOSIT

Then why aren't you aware that eBay CAN'T offer the money back guarantee on

bank deposit payments.

This was a setup from the start that overcome paypal as an option that basically refused paypal interaction, that is more the threat particularly asit was  a buy it now. proposition

That's not eBay's fault as it means the seller has stuffed something up on their PP

address and you should've insisted that they fix it before you paid them.

The eBay money back guarantee works for all eligible items and you are completely

wrong in it's assessment,(you made the mistake of paying by bank deposit).

I took ebay at their word that there was buyer protection but that's is totally non existent when it comes to part with some money as i have learnt from this exercise. So to my eyesto some degree it is false advertising it is not genuine.

As stated you failed in your knowledge of how the eBay money back guarantee works and you can't blame

anyone else for that mistake,(never pay by bank deposit as you have no protection),good.gif

For someone who has never bought or sold anything on ebay certainly must be part of the ebay/paypal system/

.

Knows all the rules and regs but never had a bad seller or buyer.
