This can lead to misunderstandings about who a poster's post is addressing.
Best advice is, as you allude to, is start their own thread,
OR
we start using the '@imastawka' method when our posts do not quote the post we are replying to. This way, when viewing on a mobile, there should not be any misunderstandings.

I was using your ID in my example because I was replying to your post. Wasn't saying it was your method 
Using a mobile it automatically replies to the OP.
That's not what happened here though.
People were replying willy-nilly (if you'll excuse the expression) haphazardly
