After a return had been settled by eBay and PayPal issued a refund in my favour, I did leave a negative feedback for my Seller which I felt was warranted. It was very amicable and straight to the point. The feedback was left yesterday but today I can not see my negative feedback on the Sellers page at all. How is this possible without my mutual consent to have the feedback removed?

Obviously in this case the buyer (OP) had a valid problem but there are many scammers out there who lie through their teeth and ebay reward and protect them
As far as ebay are concerned. all sellers are dodgy as, end of
Interesting, since you believe ebay are assisting a SELLER'S feedback to smell like roses, how is it then that ebay only allow positive feedback to be left for buyers?
Ebay must be assisting buyer's feedback to smell like a whole florist shop
But I guess that's differnt ............
I disagree. Yes there are some dishonest buyers out there but I believe there are more dishonest or maybe unprofessional sellers than buyers that cause issues here. I have dealt with three sellers here that would be guilty of fraud. A former associate has had some of the dirtiest tricks put on him poor guy. I'll talk about that one day.
There used to be a seller here on ebay that used to sell records and other stuff. Had a European name. One of the most vicious sellers around when it came to retaliatory feedback. A mild complaint would trigger nasty feedback in negative. . There is now no record of that seller on ebay. Not sure what happened there. One poor chap that had some negatives from that seller told me he was at a real loss of what to do.

Only 3? The number of buyers I've dealt with that are guilty of fraud is a lot more than that.
I don't think bad behaviour is exclusive to 'buyer' or 'seller', or more likely from one than the other. Everyone (whether they are a buyer, seller, or both), is a person at the end of the day (presumably at the beginning, as well. Unless werewolves are real, but I digress), and it's an unethical, dishonest, person-thing to do (commit fraud). Dishonest people both buy and sell. If dishonest people tend toward one (buying / selling) more than the other, the only people who would really have data on that is eBay, since they would have numbers and percentages (personal experiences of one person do not a statistical fact or probability make).
This isn't about who does what, anyway, but what gets reflected in feedback, and the simple fact is that bad buying behaviour can not be reflected in a member's feedback, or if it is, it's definitely removable whether disputes were mentioned or not, not to mention the person who left it can be in trouble.

What the heck lol I had 15 dishonest buyers in one bloody week and a 10 year record with 100% positive feedback and all family members booted off ebay.
Dishonest buyers are the biggest scammers going around on ebay.
But I've got my own back

It must have been a long time ago. I've been a member of eBay for 10 years and I've never been able to leave anything but positive for buyers. It would seem your example is irrelevant as it has long been superseded by the current policies.

Nothing irrellivant about what I said. I was just only givng an example of a nasty seller who would send out horrible revenge negs. And it was around 10 plus years ago. I had only been a member for a few years then.

But it is a dated, irrelevant example, as it is no longer possible. Please explain how something that was allowed more than 10 years ago is relevant to today.

It's called holding a grudge
From that day forward all sellers will forever and always be nasty, lying scammers and all mistakes or problems are fully intentional
And if a seller speaks up for themselves they are a bully

It was simply to show that buyers haven't always been the bad guys. Thank goodness I was lucky to have never dealt with that seller. Others weren't. Thjis is why eBay changed things because some nasty sellers were revenge-negging people who gave warranted negs.

It's futile to argue about dishonest buyers versus dishonest sellers. Fact is some people are dishonest and some aren't. Doesn't matter whether they're buyers or sellers; dishonest people will find a way to rort the system.
However, it is undoubtedly true the odds are stacked against sellers these days. Ebay decide the majority of disputes in favour of buyers. When I questioned a decision I was told as ebay are not physically in possession of the item they cannot determine the relative merits of whether it is as described ... which begs the question, how do they decide then, other than arbitrarily in favour of the buyer.
It seems very odd to say they are not in a position to know the facts but make a decision regardless based on nothing more than an unofficial policy favouring one side against the other.
I have absolutely no qualms when I buy on ebay because I know if I am messed around I will have plenty of recourse but selling is another matter. You are almost tempted to write a dissertation on every item covering every continguency and even then not being sure if there will be problems.
It's all about enhancing the buying experience but seems to me like ebay focus on the mole-hills while ignoring the mountains. Most buyers are more concerned about things like misrepresenting item location and those appalling multiple choice listings where the search brings up the .99c widget and the drop-down menu shows the much higher cost of the item you actually want.

Ebay don't care they are making money. they say they do but actions speak louder than words
