No shipping from Brazil?

I bought two items from a seller in Brazil on December 24 2021. They were marked posted on December 28 with an estimated delivery range of February 3 to 17. I waited patiently until two weeks beyond February 17 and then sent the seller an “item not received” notice. A few days later the seller cancelled my purchases, without even asking, and refunded my payment. I thought to myself, well that was that…..the items got lost in the mail. To my surprise and anger, however, both items were relisted a couple of days later!! I inquired what had happened only to find out that my two items were NEVER posted because apparently, Brazil Post does not ship to Australia under the current circumstances. Australia Post says otherwise.

I bought the relisted items again (at a much higher bid I might add) on March 11 2022. They were marked posted on March 15, so I contacted the seller yet again, to ask if this is indeed the case, and to ask for the Registration Number of my letter. The reply was: “Exactly, I marked it as sent. Not because it was sent, but because I have to mark it as sent because orders are not accumulated in the payment box…..” I also offered to pay for courier delivery instead, but received no response. So my items are in limbo again with an estimated delivery range of April 20 to May 5, which I seriously doubt after the first experience. So, my questions are:

Are others experiencing similar delivery difficulties, especially from Brazil?

Is the seller under ANY obligation to be truthful about items sent? (In my case it’s an obvious lie!)

Re: No shipping from Brazil?

If you do not use the tools available to you on eBay to remedy non-arrival of item WITHIN THE TIMEFRAME SET BY EBAY, you will time yourself out of eBay’s MBG.

It is, of course, your decision.

Re: No shipping from Brazil?

Thanks for your constructive answer countess. Sometimes I wonder about this board! Yes, I am well aware of the delivery time plus 30 days limit, and yes it is my decision. I should add that I am not getting any bad vibes from this seller. It's a long established bricks and mortar company in Brazil, and a member of a number of relevant trade organisations..... definitely not a shonky fly by night operator. The COVID chaos is not their fault, after all.

Moreover, the amount involved is not huge, and because of this I am willing to wait, and to take a risk on delivery. Wouldn't anyone finding a great bargain? Don't tell me that you wouldn't, because I don't believe it!

Re: No shipping from Brazil?

I’m sceptical about bargains.

If I do find a much-wanted item on eBay (and there are issues with not being able to find it anywhere else), I’ll take a risk in making the purchase - but I will keep an eagle eye on it and if it seems that the risk goes up beyond a certain point (if the item’s not been despatched, or if the seller tells me they DON’T have it in stock despite the listing saying it is, but they’re waiting for it to be supplied from the manufacturer), then I take steps to recover my money. I’ve done exactly that.

Admittedly… Early in my eBay buyer days, I did wait for something that was sent by the seller by sea, even though the listing said nothing about sending in that way. (Seller and item were in Netherlands.) I would certainly have paid additional postage if that was needed… I bought based on the rarity of the particular CD,  not based on cheap price (because it certainly wasn’t cheap). I don’t remember exactly how long it took, but at least 3 months… My wait was vindicated, but it was a risk I wouldn’t take nowadays.

Cheap price would not make me wait for too long to open refund request.

Could you let us know if the item arrives? Please bear in mind that even if the price was lower than, say, $30, that is still an amount of which you should not deprived in the event of non-delivery.

Please, keep in mind the limit of 180 days after transaction, which will at least give you PayPal Buyer Protection in the event of Item Not Arriving.

Re: No shipping from Brazil?

Sellers will tell you everything you want to hear. Until the time is up and then you suddenly find yourself being ignored, and no come back. I would be getting the refund as soon as you can. If the item turns up, you can then repay the seller.

You will be the one that loses out and loses your money if you don't make a claim. The seller won't care, because they'll get to keep the money, and probably never sending the item.

Your call though, if you want to trust a complete stranger in a foreign land. Me, I'd be getting the refund, even if it's only a few dollars.

Re: No shipping from Brazil?

I have a similar experience and can tell you we have dealt with a particular seller in Brazil prior to Dec 2021 with no problems. After that date he was unable to ship to Australia and remains so to this day...with a few emails we were able to get out items by sending them via another country. There was no additional cost involved. I suggest if possible question Aust Post / Aust customs and get their response as to what the exact situation is. Hope that helps
