Nobody put in their location.... WHY!!!!!

Why doesn't Ebay do something about people not putting their location in their listing.

Sick of reading listings and nobody includes their location. I'm SOOOO tired of asking 'Where you locate".

It's such an obvious thing that does not appears to not be obvious, making me think people are just plain stupid assuming that I'm a mind reader.

Sorry for my rant but it's annoying.

PLEASE MAKE THIS FIELD MANDATORY!!!!!!

I agree OP it is very frustrating.

Its on my eBay wish list that to list an item for pick up that a seller must nominate the suburb and post code of the goods location.

I think you'll find most probably have but as I discovered when I list through TL it only asks for your postcode then TL or ebay programming pick a region based on that postcode. My location is nothing that I put. Now if I go into online lister my location, postcode and suburb are correct.

It wouldn't hurt, as has been mentioned many times in the past, if selling pickup items to include the suburb in the title. Rather than relying on eBay's, known to be flawed, item location.

For larger items like furniture - I think including location in title is helpful for buyers and might work in sellers favour to include, particularly if pick up only. .

But overall having location in item title for smaller items such as post supplies, clothing, books and collectables is not really something that many sellers would give up characters for, when many are targeting sales on a national basis.

I used to regularly seek to purchase smaller items on ebay that were available to pick up locally and by doing so made significant savings on postage overtime - hundreds and hundreds of dollars in fact, however it was an absolute pain to troll through each listing to ascertain exact suburb, message seller to affirm pick up location prior to purchase or bidding  - all because a significant number of listings had "Melbourne" as the location.

The OP seems to infer that all sellers should offer pick-ups and provide thier location for sales. While this is obviously nessasary for large items it should be optional for smaller items suitable for mailing.  I sell a number of items every day and delibratly leave my location off listings. I dont want to be sitting around the house waiting for some-one who may or may not show up on time ( if at all ) to pick up a $15 item that could be mailed for $2. On the rare occasions I do pick-ups, the buyer usually wants to talk for 45 minutes about thier pet project, time that I should be working, meaning a later night on the computer for me trying to catch up. Many proffesional online businesses have very large stock values of easily sold stock at home. ( over $100,000 would not be uncommon ) Why should these sellers provide thier address and allow anyone who purchases a small item online, into thier home. I personally get rather annoyed with buyers who demand local pick-up even though it is not offered in my listings. I agree with the OP that when local pick-up is offered, the location is a rather important detail to include in listings, but buyers should not consider local pick ups as "thier right" on all sales.

Maybe pick up is not available would be a useful option too that a seller could elect to have displayed prominantly under item location - I reckon would save loads of questions, and or buyer assumptions being made.

With all the headers and carp that ebay populate a listing with, it would surely be possible to add some more useful information in the main listing details.

Added to eBay wishlist ....I know I'm dreaming ...   sigh

I think the majority of sellers that do not put an item location in their listing have genuinely overlooked it.

However for some others

internet local pick up sales 101

engage/know your prospective customer.

ie If you get can them to ask one question then it is likely they will ask more questions..

Some seller's sales "style" suits direct contact and having 3 or 4 location enquiries  with the chance of supplementary

questions rather than no enquiries but 15 watchers allows that seller to pitch.

I'm SOOOO tired of asking 'Where you locate".

get a bit sick of emailing to ask for location

Has anybody who complained about the lack of item location in a local pick up listing, but admitting emailing the

seller for the location actually bought that item?

The email enquiry affirms to the seller that you may be interested....not just a watcher/tyrekicker

Has anybody who complained about the lack of item location in a local pick up listing included in their question "I live

at XXXXXXX is your location is close to me" or a supplementary question like "can I have exact dimensions", or

"I was wondering about that blemish on the left hand side?

For some sellers the lack of information in a listing allows them to engage and works in their favour

That would be the most logical thing. Can't think why ebay does not do that!!
