One more issue

When I first started buying from ebay (3 mths ago), I bought a handbag from China & it was horrible & cheaply made. I left them a message stating the bag was in poor condition & they offered me $3.00 compensation. I said no thanks & because it was after 45 days, I just left a negative feedback & forgot about it. But in the last 6 weeks this seller has bombarded me with messages to remove the negative feedback, THEN they will give me a full refund. I keep telling the seller I will remove it when they refund me. But it keeps on going around & around, back & forth.  I don't want to hurt anyone's business, but what if I do what they want & they don't refund me?

Re: One more issue

horizon,

you are kidding, for sure!

Banned from Ebay!

As if.

If you had a site for selling (like Ebay) and are making money from other people's listings - Chinese are the ones you most definitely wouldn't ban!

They are your most revenue producing nation.

If you have a business, it's sole purpose for being is to make money - and ifn a face of massive losses you'd soon change your mind.

Sadly for us, I think Ebay wouldn't feel much of a loss if all Ausses dissapeared overnight, but China - THAT would hurt!

Re: One more issue

Totally agree horizon, they destroy consumer confidence.

Already the damage China has done with consumer goods is despicable, not to mention ruin their own reputation for a few dollars.

Re: One more issue

horizon,

I agree with you too, that anyone who sells cheap and nast stuff ought to be banned from Ebay - but that is just a pipe dream!

Most Ebay's customers want cheap, the cheaper the better, with ideally no postage - but then they are surprised as to how cheap it really is - once they get it.

If that wasn't the case (constantly after a bargain) no one would ever buy anything from China on Ebay, if everyone said "I don't need this Chinese rubbish" - they wouldn't sell anything EVER - but surprise, surprise, exactly the opposite is happening.

They sell globally billions of dollars worth of "cheap junk" - and that's is why Ebay is happy - laughing all the way to the bank.

And for the rest of us - we just have to be a bit more discerning and sellective when shopping here.

Re: One more issue

I'm deadly serious. IF ebay are serious about giving folks an enjoyable & safe site to make a purchase, then yes, ban them. The problem is, ebay are after a quick & endless $$$$ flow.  The $$  that are generated from Chinese Sellers to ebay must be vast. I totally understand that ebay are a Huge Company and money talks volumes, but that doesn't make it right. The vast majority of items that are sold are basically JUNK. Buy, use and toss away when finished with.  That's the way we all live today ( unfortunately )  My point being, it's the Fakes, Rip Offs & knowingly 3rd grade carp that is swamping the market place that is doing the damage.  IMO given time, ebay WILL implode.

Re: One more issue

Horizon,

again, in theory I agree totally with you.

But the thing is, in practice, I an just not sure what damage is actually being done, and to whom.

You can argue that shoppers may get turned of Ebay altogether after few unfortunate Chinese purchases - and then all sellers miss out!

But, in the scheme of things, ratio of the unhappy buyers is still microscopic compared with the happy ones.

I normally don't shop here for those sort of items, but just had a look at several Chinese sellers.

Their overall feed back is, say over 100,000, with about 10-15,000 negs. And that is nothing overly amazing, given the turnover, and given the quality of stuff they sell. I am honestly surprised to not see many more negs! Only because I have read on the boards so many complaints about them.

Big deal, that is the same percentage if someone with 500 transactions had 1 neg.

Not even close to being significant  "unhappy atmosphere" for buyers in general, for Ebay to see the need to do anything about it.

One shudders to think just how much worse it can get horizon.........

I have been a seller and a buyer and recently thought to sell again, a few items personally, not as a business anymore, but once I read the rules and regs and returns and defects...................

I would rather donate my stuff to a charity that will put it to good use, quite frankly, than try to handle the carp on here these days.

It is sad, I remember the eBay of old (and I mean OLD) and it was a great place, like a big garage sale, now it is just a circus, making sellers jump through so many hoops they must be too dizzy by the time they have figured out whether or not the money they have been paid is actually theirs yet!!

What money we have been paid.

I thought sellers only paid fees - not got paid.

Perhaps if there was a buyer or two left this just may happen - but - ??????
