Problem with searches in 'all categories' giving results in only one category or even sub-category

Hi,

I've recently noticed that when I do a search for something (e.g. a brand name) in 'all categories', ebay will often only give me results in one category or even a sub-category (or sub-sub-category!).  I'm not sure exactly how long this has been happening.

Is it happening for others too? What is the point of having 'All categories' at the top if ebay thinks they know better and decides for me what categories I really want to look at ??  I thought the reason the categories were shown at the side was to allow you to refine the search if 'All categories' gave more results than you wanted. Personally, for various brands I want to see everything.

This affects both buyers and sellers with some items not being visible in search results.

Any thoughts or fixes for this?

Thanks

The searches are all up the creek at the moment.....all you can do is hope they will come good again before you pull all you hair out.Smiley Frustrated

Thanks, hope I'm not bald by then!. Would be nice if ebay sent a message to members advising of issues with searches so everyone knows to check results. Guess that's too much to expect.

I used to assume that when you type a particular word in search that items appear according to that word being in the title. I recently had a discussion through ebay chat where I was told that 'category' takes precedence - which is why you will see items listed that DON'T have that word in the title.
