I just stumbled on this little note way over on the right of my Buyer's Feedback page.
What happened was a typo, where I put in $299 by mistake but was able to retract it shortly after and
correct it to $2.99., but I still bid.
I think this note gives the wrong impression on my Feedback page and I have asked ebay to remove it based on
my explanation above and they have asked me which item it was.
trouble is I've bought about 5 items recently and have no way of remembering which one it was.
And when I ask them how I can tell they don't explain.
So what I'm asking, is there any way to find out which item I did this with? Otherwise I'll have to send them the
item nos of all my recent purchases - no huge deal, but would prefer something easier.

I have 2 bid retractions and the reason I noticed them was because of an ebay email telling me the seller had cancelled my bid and ended the listing early.
It went on to say that everyone would be able to see the retraction buy only the seller and I would know the reason for the retraction.
I did not retract my bid, I was the only bidder and the seller a newbie so I think they paniced that they would be selling the item at the minimum bid (ie me).
If everytime a seller cancels a lisiting do all bidders end up with another bid retraction against their id?
I don't like that at all.

Not unless it is a very new thing Bump.
I have had a number of items ended by the seller after cancelling bids but the only retraction showing on my feedback is one that I did because of a wrong amount entered. Initially I was miffed because I bid again immediately but there is no point in stressing over something that is unlikely to be changed.

Just for info here's the letter ebay just sent me -
Thank you for contacting eBay about the Bid Retraction notification in your Feedback Profile page.
I understand the intention of wanting to remove this.
Kate, the eBay system will be recording as to how many times you have retracted a bid. It is automatic. However, this will not be affecting your account as a buyer nor a seller since in our policy, when you retract a bid due to typographical error you must enter the correct one. This can only be a disadvantage if you have not followed the policy by not making another bid amount.
I will take this as a suggestion that if one will re-enter a new amount due to error the system should not be recordingit. But for the meantime we will just have it as it is. I can surely bring this up in one of our meetings.
Thanks for your understanding and bringing this up in to our attention.

If you go to someone's feedback page, and click on "feedback as a buyer", it shows "bid retractions (last 12 months)", on the top right of the feedback.
This doesn't show on the total feedback page.

I accidently bid on a pair of Oakley sunglasses but then remembered that the guy in the reflection doesn't come with the sunglasses so had to retract. LOL
