Seller has no buyer protection options

I'm sure I'm missing something here. But I was under the impression that at least one payment option from a seller had to have buyer protection. I ran a quick Ebay & Google search and don't seem to have found much supporting this however.

A seller has recently listed a number of items I'm interested in bidding on. Despite having the Paypal option as an accepted payment, they've specifically noted in the listing that they don't accept Paypal.

Essentially they only have COD & Bank Deposit only. But I think the seller has confused COD as pickup only which they have also specifically noted is not available.

I basically only purchase through Paypal because of the buyer protection, I am aware of others BP options, but these aren't offered by the seller either.

Can they do this?

the scientific calculation for 6-1x0+2/2=7 is correct so in fact you are totally correct she_elephan

Re: Seller has no buyer protection options

@the_great_she_elephan..    your equastion is flawed. Current  6-1x0+2÷2 = 7

It actually reads different buy your not factoring in the minus sign between the 6-0 .

It currently reads as 6 minus 1 which is 5 + 2 devided buy 2 which is 1 = 6

But then if we leave the minus out yes it reads

6 + 0=6 + 2divided buy 2 = 7

But it can also be seen as this

 6 minus 1 = 5x0=5 +2 = 7 divided buy 2 = 3 1/2

2-(1x0)+(2/2) =7

1x0=0

2/2=1

6-0+1=7

As usual....

The great one is correct, also as usual. You need to understand the rules of precedence in mathematics, which are not subject to interpretation. They are set in concrete, and she's equation is correct as long as one understands mathematics. If one doesn't, one really shouldn't be parading their ignorance in public.

Maths makes the civilisation go round; a handy skill, I would think.

Re: Seller has no buyer protection options

Firstly Dave this is hardly maths its more arithmetic , It uses no substitutions .

Secondly I explained it how I think most people view it.

Thirdly Maths is useless in the real world. Its mess and the use of subs is just ridiculous and confusing for most.

But then I get the feeling you do not see yourself as an ordinary individual now do you.

simple one     y=3x         x+y=12

Sorry Dave I should have clarified  answer  y=9   .

You should have clarified the question. In its current state, it's completely meaningless. 😐

The question is solve it using the substitution method.

                                                                       y = 3x

                                                                       x + y=12

So  y is now sub for x                                   x+3x=12

which means                                                    4x=12

so                                                                      x=3

means y is 3x3                                              y=3.3=12

meaning                                                        y=9

which means                              y=9+x=3=12      so     x+y=12   is 3+9=12

MATHS not arithmetic.

Re: Seller has no buyer protection options

Thanks again for your feedback crew. Granted how the heck did this turn into a maths debate?...anyway back on topic.

I contacted the seller asking if he offered a purchase type that has Buyer Protection, and he advised he does accept Paypal (just discourages people using it). However any Paypal fees the buyer must pay.

Clearly I'm not going to touch this seller now with a barge pole, as I'm pretty sure that's against Ebay policy (please correct me if I'm wrong). At the very least the auction sale price +P&H should be all I have to pay, not wear the sellers fees too. Fees he should already have taken into account.

Re: Seller has no buyer protection options

yes tyg, you are right, it is against ebay/paypal policy to ask the buyer to pay your fees as a separate figure (of course those costs should have been built into the starting price).

Re: Seller has no buyer protection options

Thanks just before I report it. I thought I'd contact the seller again just to confirm his definition of me paying Paypal fees and they replied pretty quickly and yes this is verbatim;

Me: "Thanks for your reply. Sorry just to confirm, do you mean there are additional fees after the final sale price if I use Paypal? (excluding P&H)"

SELLER: "Yes, which is the 3% of the final price which what PayPal charge."

What annoys me is I sell stuff too and don't do this to my buyers, and just find it outright wrong to lump customers any extra fees. They are already paying me, I don't need to screw them over in the process. This might explain why I do most stuff with a Buy it now as I've already factored in any of my costs.
