Seller now has the item plus my money

I bought an item on 23 Sept and paid with Paypal. When I received it, I found part of it was labelled a size which was not the size stated in the auction. I emailed the seller and opened a dispute in Paypal, in the meantime the seller responded and said she would refund if I returned the item. I returned it by registered post and the seller received it on 29 October according to tracking by Australia Post. 


Unfortunately at the time of receiving it, I was overseas and when I returned, I found my internet had been inadvertantly disconnected. I was unable to receive emails telling me that Paypal would close the dispute on 31 October until after that date. 


The seller has not refunded my money, nor acknowledged that she has received the returned item. Ebay now say I should go to the resolution centre by the 6th October, but Paypal wont let me open the case again. What do I do now? I have emailed the seller saying I had internet problems, and she hasn't responded. Am I stuck with no item and no refund?

Ring paypal and tell them what happened. Did you send paypal the tracking number for returning the item to the seller?


If it was fully trackable then paypal should have refunded when the seller received it back.

You must have been in a very remote location when you were overseas if you couldn't find an internet cafe or library where you could have checked on your claim. If you gave Paypal the details of the reg post or click & send tracking number when you sent it back before you went away there shouldn't have been any problems anyway.

OK thanks, I have phoned Paypal and they were actually very supportive and said they would reopen the case and give the seller some time to respond. I was in a remote part of Malaysia which did have internet but I had difficulties getting a decent service whilst over there. Exacerbated by my ISP making a mistake and cutting off my own internet the day before I returned home. Hopefully this will work out OK as the seller seems genuine from emails, even if reluctant to come forward with the refund. Will post the outcome.
