Hi, I bought an item and it wasn't as described I requested a return and the seller accepted and refunded me. I'm confused as to if I am supposed to return the item, or keep it
Thanks

If the seller has refunded and not asked you to return the item then they obviously don't want it returned.

If I do this (refund straight away), then as lyndal mentioned, it's because I don't require the item to be returned. The main reasons why I may opt not to get the item back is that I would pay return postage on a faulty item, but if an item is unuable, it's generally not worth paying to get it back; sometimes it's because the item is low value, so even if it is usuable in some way, it's still not worth paying return postage costs. I'll also do it on lower value items if I sent the wrong thing, the buyer doesn't want a replacement, and can still use what I did send.
That being said, on the off chance this might be applicable, if your seller is new, or new-ish, or doesn't sell much, it's possible they haven't had to navigate a return request before, and in that case I would contact them directly and just double-check - the process is mostly intuitive, but mistakes can be made and the seller might not have realised they were both accepting the return and refunding at the same time (either way, if the item is not as described, the seller really should pay for the return, so if it turns out they do want it back, you'll need to negotiate a way for them to provide you with postage costs, or a postage label).

From memory there was someone on the boards, very recently, who had apparently refunded by mistake, without getting the item
returned. So it might be good just to contact the seller and ask what they would like done with the item.

Hi, you should only send the item back if the seller has also included the cost of return in the refund.
Best to just ask though. But if seller doesn't worry about you sending back the item, it would be good to give him / her glowing feedback. Careful about mentioning anything about the refund in the FB. though. Anyway, sounds like a good seller.
Good one, sounds like it has worked out for you.

Yes, that's what i think. If a seller fixes a problem quickly for you, then it is worthwhile giving positive feedback & even mentioning what good service it was. I know when i read feedback, that sort of comment is as useful as the praise as a problem is where you really get to know how decent a seller is.
