Sellers, second chance offers, and how long to pay?

Okay, I didn't check my messages or emails - my bad.  5 days ago I won an auction I had forgotten I was bidding on.  I realised this morning, and paid, then called the seller to make sure they knew immediately I had paid.  They told me that yesterday, they'd offered second chance to the next bidder down, and resold the item.

Again, ok, my bad for not checking my messages.  But the only one they sent me anyway was 3 days ago, asking when I would pay.  I paid this morning, 5 days after.  There was nothing in the auction about how long for contact or how long for payment.  What do sellers normally do?  Is this regular practice?  I've had some bad luck lately with sellers doing stuff like this (the last one took a higher offer he'd received via inbox after auction close, relisted the item and had the other person buy it for more, THEN left me a negative comment because I left him one!).  Is 5 days an unacceptable amount of time these days???  When I rang, the lady was quite rude, and also told me it was okay to leave a negative comment in feedback (which this one has ALSO done) and i'm lucky they left it to me in a positive comment!  What the hell???  It's been ages since I bought lots from ebay, but i'm getting turned off by the whole experience at the moment!  Is this normal of Ebay these days?

Well before we crucify the OP any further, it's not the first time her seller has left negative feedback with a green dot either, except this buyer didn't complain so the comment remains.

I don't leave negatives lightly - and yes, I realise two in a row for similar reasons make me look a little strange - but hey, how strange do you think i'm finding it, to find myself in almost the same situation twice in a row after years of very few problems!  If you look, there are another two similar transactions where the feedback was excellent, on both sides, and they are recent too.

Sorry, one transaction, I thought the other lady had left feedback too.

Quite a new seller by the looks of it also.

May not have been aware of the correct procedures regarding NPB etc and just thought okay to relist.

And as the Fox said, I would not have left that FB, OP you have just advertised to all and sundry that you are a potential NPB and have made it sound like you were fully expecting a dispute to be opened.

There is no need to apologise to anyone regarding the feedback you leave.  Looking at your feedback given there are a few negs and neutrals however because they are scattered I would say you rated as you saw things.

IMO however I would leave less negs providing the person was prepared to talk and resolve.  If this wasn't the case you have every right to call it as you see it.  There are those though who use feedback as a bargaining tool so they can get free stuff.  I truly believe feedback is the most important thing for a seller on eBay so I would only use negs as a last resort.

Saying "payment refunded" makes it obvious that the OP paid.  The other NEG OP left was for item that was re-listed next day.

If eBay lowers the time to pay to 2 days that will mean end of DD, as 2 days is minimum for DD to come through.  By the way, do people still use DD?

... and I meant to say that NEG is definitely appropriate for seller who re-lists next day; the 2nd one I would probably do neutral.  But the OP has a full right to be angry that the item was offered without the transaction being finalised.

I myself do try andpay one, two days but I have had people when I was selling goover the five day. I would say a week would be the resell mark. I think you should have been given a week before re sell as its important to be alittle understanding to people and I believe sellers who show understanding are remembered and get used again by the same buyers.

eBay send a reminder at Day 2

eBay suggest seller opens a dispute at Day 4

eBay suggest seller waits at least a further 4 days as dispute can only be closed on Day 8

Seller can resell on day 9

plenty of time to pay.
