I put a bid on an item and my max bid was $500 then someone outbid me when I opened up the automatic bid history I could see the $510 then the same user bid again and the bid went up to $4000 How can this happen? I thought the bids were supposed to go up in increments not straight up to their maximum bid

Found it.
It's in USA on their site.
Looks like it may have had a reserve but now that someone bid over the reserve it has gone to that price.
Hence the jump in price.

Total scam that bidder has only 1 bid with the seller but it shows they bid twice $510 and $4000 so why would the $4K show up when there are no other bids past $510?

Bid history shows the high bidder only bid ONCE...as kopes said it would appear that the item has a reserve..

The high bidder shows a bid of $510 fair enough as that's the bid that out bid OP but why did it go to $4000 as no one else has bid?
I'm with OP on this one and it is a scam as the high bidder has the one bid with the seller really as if this isn't shilling at its best lol.
Even with a reserve price why would it jump straight to the reserve price?
Ok that bidder made it go to the reserve price but that bidder to me is the shill bidder lol.
