I believe Ebay will allow a buyer to cancel an order within 1 hour, seller 30 days.
I recently bought a part for my daughters car. A friend showed up shortly after doing so and fixed the issue at no cost and without needing any parts. Within a few hours of the purchase I very politely and sincerely contacted the seller explaining the situation and asked if he would cancel order and I offered to pay any fees incured, if any. Being on a pension I can not afford something I don't need. The seller did not reply and opened an unpaid item case.
I have been on Ebay for almost 9 years, have a history from day one of 100% feedback rating. Yes an unblemished record from day one. The seller in question has a 98% feedback rating.
I think it is very unfair given the circumstances, my long unblemished record and the fact that the seller is being very unreasonable that this single non serious issue be recorded against my account and restrictions applied. I think buyers should be allowed 1 unpaid item every year or so.
Very very unfair.

(yawn) Just another buyer who seems to have an unusually high amount of trouble with purchases, and resorts to borderline-abusive feedback.

@papermoon.ladyIf the seller cancelled the sale the fees would be credited back to the sellers account so there is NO fees and all it takes is a hit relist button to relist it so no cost to the seller but good of the buyer to offer
But OP I would like to know at the time you did the purchase you did it because you wanted it so WHY did you not pay for it then?
Are you a buyer that buyer that buys then pays when you feel like it?
When you go to a real shop you do not take the item and come back and pay later as you have to pay when you buy.
And as for playing the I am a pensioner as stated by others means NOTHING
Sellers hear so many excuses for buyers wanting to reneg on purchases and this is one of the most common ones other than my 2yo did the purchase.
And for your 100% feedback that is not hard as a buyer only as sellers can not leave negs for buyers.
Neg Feedback you left- ordered on 4th, still no gaskets,no car for holidays, unreliable untrustworthy
But as a pesioner you can afford a holiday but not pay for a purchase 😞

Basically saying, I asked the seller for a favour which they declined . I deserve special treatment and so I will come on a public forum and abuse them
(But based on the number of posts I've made, of course I would say that)Apparently
Would still love to know how many posts someone has made on a multi-topic forum relates to anything?
But then again, I am both I buyer and a seller and I have 100% feedback
I have been on ebay 13 years at the end of this year
I work but with the economy the way it is, I could lose my job at any time
None of it has anything to do with anything, if any buyer bids/wins and does not pay, it is up to the seller what happens next

I've been a member - buyer and seller - for as long as the OP has. I have more than ten times the feedback the OP has, and have managed to leave feedback for over 6000 transactions without resorting to a negative.
Guess my expectations are just lower...

It may be that the Seller is tired of people who change their minds after purchase, they may have just had a lot ot others do the same and are tired of listening to the many excuses. They may also be tired of people claiming, or trying to get sympathy for being on a pension. (many low paid workers are doing it tough too, not to mention the unemployed) They may have also looked at the feedback you leave for others. They may also, have it set up to automatically file a non payment dispute after 4 days. This is a business transaction, so your financial position has no place here and should not be mentioned. You cannot expect or insist that the seller acts in a certain way to your liking. They have rules that apply to them, and have broken none. You, on the other hand have not paid for your item, therefore if you got an unpaid strike, you can only blame yourself. I would never ask a seller to cancel, but resell the item if I did not want it. I have allowed buyers to cancel if I felt the mistake, reason was genuine, but I have looked at their feedback left for others first, to determine the character of the person. You have left a huge number of negatives for sellers and this would be offputting for any seller that deals with you. People are all different, and if the seller did not bow and bend to your wishes, then that was their perogative.

I also have 100% positive feedback from day one because I am a buyer and I can only receive positive feedback lol.
And your buying history shows alot of negative feedbacks given by you for item not in Australia so why not just buy from Australia?
And if you're saying that you were tricked into thinking that items were in Australia then you need to dig deeper into the sellers you're buying from.
There are many pensioners on here but we don't throw in the sympathy card lol.
And why didn't your daughter purchase her own item if you're the one on the pension?
You've just landed yourself on lots of BBL's.
You could have handled the situation alot easier if you just thought it through,as you have said 9 years on ebay then you should know the policies by now.

Or your MO is higher.

I especially love the negative feedback that says "does not take 2 weeks to get 6 hours up the road in same state". Last week I had a large letter take from Monday to Thursday to travel one and a half hours up the road - to a major centre that the mail truck stops at two hours after picking up the mail here.
I find the pensioner bit highly offensive and I'm sure anyone else living on a lot less than the pension also would! I once had no income at all and didn't qualify for the dole, but used to get pensioners expecting me to do things for them "because they were only on the pension". All the pensioners I know who regularly say that live the high life, which says it all.

One look at your feedback left for others and the seller would have to be a complete numpty to cancel rather than open the UID. Once the UID closes you are unable to leave feedback, if it is a cancellation then you can and how is the seller to know that if you got out of the wrong side of your bed this morning and they had not complied quick enough for you then they may have received a neg.

What I would like to hear is:
1) if people agree/disagree with the punishment, does it fit the crime, given my record.
2) Is the seller being unreasonable given I contacted him soon after purchase and offered to pay any fees.
1) Yes
2) No
