Lost my money on a bogus advert for a vision kig spotting scope that didnt arrive from china, waited the 45 days for postage which eliminated me from raising a issue as you have to report it less than 45 days, paypal wont refund, ebay wont refund, seller wont refund,
and no item recieved.
So i start looking at the other scopes that are similar and find that the listings are identical the photos and item description are exactly the same although the names are all changed.
So then i start looking at the history and feed back on the sellers, and interestingly they have zero feedback have zero history and have never sold on ebay before, so I suspect that its the same person flogging off scopes that dont arrive because after 45 days you can raise an issue.
Ive sent him a note thanking him forstealing from me and hoping the $119.00 went to feed his family.

what's up - can't we name these people on these forums?
The HH thread had members that knew they where reporting scammers.
There is a Chinese scammer that has been hijacking German accounts for years,(they then list high end TV
and want payment by bank deposit, which they can do so as they don't have to have a safe payment option on
that site),
Some months they make $10000 plus
There is a listing sitting in completed that "sold" for AU $2,608.00 and had 33 bidders,(some of whom will
receive second chance offers,so it's another possible $5000 plus for them).
That same scammer has two more listings up at present with 14 and 22 bids,(using the same hijacked account
as the completed listing which was reported last week).
Chinese scammers list items at low prices,(well below their true value) but those items don't exist as they copy
listings from genuine sellers).
There is a Romanian scammer that lists items that have a jpeg image which contains their Email address,(it
can't be picked up by the bots).
The Russian scammers list trucks, loaders, cars, etc,(which don't exist and members lose their money as payment
is generally by bank deposit).
There are more but I no longer have the saved search strings to look for them.
Member lose tens of thousands of dollars to these scammer each week and this site does not have effective
searches in place to find them,(I find them on a regular basis so why can't they?)

But we could name them on another site? I could, say, create a site devoted to simply that... eBay couldn't shut that down could they? Or do they have that kind of political clout or whatever it takes?
And I recognise the danger of malicious people naming innocent folks but isn't that handleable by simply insisting on publishing names and addresses of 'namers' at the same time, on the one hand, and only reporting kind of obvious, verifiable, facts on the other?

There has been at least one instance here when a poster named a member, but made a typo. Unfortunately the typo was a legitimate ID still, so the wrong member was getting pilloried.

That's why we used the copy and paste method for the scam listings,
We never used item numbers or member ID's,(just the full listing title)

Those other listings for the spotting scopes have all gone through to completed.
I wonder whether it is because of eBay's report system which states:
that the only way you will get scammed is through hijacked accounts,
Hence they might ask the scammer if their account has been hijacked and they would say no off course,
It's about time they changed it to something more suitable that the T & S agents understand,

"that the T & S agents understand"
They should understand this, a typical example,.......-3 feedback,. -4 is automatic NARU of the ID

Thanks Silver,
You do have to wonder why they are able to scam members so easily,(gullibility aside as that's needed in some
form for any scam to succeed),
Only 3 out of 15 purchases have left feedback so far,(but the scammer has made $490 from them).
It will give us some idea to see how many members have been conned if they leave feedback at a later date.
Have Emailed them once again,

That -3 feedback scammer is NARU'd but the listings from the other scammers are still there and more
scammers have new listings,(listings "stolen" from the true Vision King seller)
The -3 scammer "sold" items worth over $1500
