Why would you buy an iPod online?
Apple don't do 3rd party sales, nor do they warrant any items sold that way.
And how do you know that Australian Customs weren't the ones who opened it?

Why does Ebay do this 'integrated' logistics thing anyway? It was never needed in the past.
Now Ebay also manages all seller payments (at least here in Australia) so many small business and individual sellers get crippled by fees and charges levied to sell things on Ebay. I stopped trying to be a small business operator a lot of years ago (mid-2000's) when Ebay first began jacking up fees/charges to sellers. Starting to charge a fee on postage and attempting to force sellers to offer 'free postage' ruined it for me.
I've bought a lot of stuff (mostly car parts) from the USA and the GSP works just fine. Fedex is the carrier used for the international leg and the 'last mile' delivery is normally done by Australia Post.
