Do not buy from any seller with less than 98.8%, especially if they have a small number of transactions credited. Unfortunately those who rate below that either have long delays sending goods or don't send goods. If you dispute a transaction with one of these low rated sellers, then it is likely that eBay will remove the transaction from your list but usually a good chance you will get your money refunded provided you paid with paypal. But because ebay remove the listing, you will not be able to give feedback. As I have 20 years experience on eBay and have dealt with these low rated sellers, it is my opinion that most under 98.8% feedback rating are are just a waste of your time, just so you can save a couple of dollars. Ebay are just as complacent with these people by allowing them to keep trading on their site. Anyone under 98% - forget them.

Why did you drag up a 5yo thread? It served no purpose whatsoever.
In regards to percentages, if they are a high volume seller, 99.5% is about the cut off. Anything below that are generally Chinese sellers of rubbish. For a small seller, then it only takes one negative to knock them down to below 80%. I will still buy from them if the neg is given by a numpty.
The best thing to do is read the feedback. Sometimes a lot of negs are given to Chinese sellers because they pay $1 with free postage for a "gold watch" and then complain that the item is rubbish.
It doesn't matter how long you've been on eBay, READ THE FEEDBACK and then decide.

I pay an equal amount of attention to the sellers attitude/reponse to negative feedback. Some sellers are just downright rude and even with just one neg. feedback would not get my business.

Given you are replying to the OP - I'm sure in the last FOUR AND A HALF YEARS they have set their parameters.

Don't be so pedantic - some issues and topics have no time limit before they become irrelevant.
Maybe a constructive comment such as mine would be a better use of everyones time?
