Over the past fortnight I have sent five courteous emais to different sellersl with a question, via their selling site.
Asking things like measurements which are not included on their listing.
Not one has responded. And, incidentally, none of the items got a bid.
I give up.....if the details aren't listing I will just go onto sellers who can be bothered giving details with their listings.

For a while I had the same problem asking questions but getting no answers....but I'm hoping the drought has finally broken.
I contacted a seller asking if she would consider changing her low cost BIN item shipping from the GSP to USPS 1st Class Int. I've had a long line of rejections (when I actually got replies) so I asked kind of for the hell of it, rather than with any expectation of success.
I was surprised and delighted when I got a quick reply - she was OK with it and had already changed the shipping to USPS. Hurrah! I immediately logged on to eBay and bought the item.

I must be paranoid when it comes to replying to buyers. A few times I've had messages come through in the middle of the night and the notification on my phone (which is normally turned off at night), woke me up. I replied then and there at 3.30am. My phone is normally on over night as I need it that way for work, but notifications are turned off from 1am to 6am. A few times they haven't turned themselves off and the message woke me. I feel guilty if I leave it until morning!

If it's already woken you up, might as well deal with it if it's just a quick one. One less thing to do the next day. Makes sense to me 🙂

My thoughts exactly. I'm also concerned that if I don't reply to it then, I'll wake up in the morning and forget about it because the notification will be gone from the top of my screen. The few that have woken me up have mostly been asking if I combine postage (even though it says I do in my listings!). Therefore, quick replies!

I can understand overnight questions. I do my browsing/buying mostly at around 3am. I don't expect a reply then, though 🙂 not everyone's a night owl.

I have been a buyer only on ebay for almost 16 years.
I would never argue the postage.....it is on the site for all to see. Take it or leave it.
I always ask my questions with courtesy and friendliness and respond to the answer with a thank you.
I always contact a seller when I receive the goods advising that I have received my purchase safe and sound and thanking them for the article and service, before I do feedback.
There are a lot of nutter buyers out there as well as careless sellers.
Me, I couldn't cope with some of the things that sellers have to.
Most are good sellers who care enough about their listings.
I do try to make it easier for them.
Incidentaly, in my 16 years of buying I have never had a bad experience with a seller or a product.
Every one has been such a positive.
Oh, I just remembered one...it was a Chinese seller a few months ago. Can't remember what it was tho.

It says that I joined ebay in 2005, but that was when I changed my id.
I joiined in 2000.

I never argue postage either, but get a bit peeved when sellers are too lazy to use the correct satchel - or use just what they could nick from work anyway - and then charge me for it. Like receiving 450g items in a 3kg satchel that would have easily fit in a smaller satchel. With clothes it's hard to tell for sure what the weight is going to be so hard to question before the sale. TBH I don't see that I should.
I also hate when I pay the advertised tracked postage rate and it turns up in a large letter, for which I give feedback in the correct colour of the satchel I should have received it in.
Things I would never do as a seller myself.

My favourite in that regard was a hand-drawn "stamp" on an envelope that had been reused. Amazed that got through AP. Few years ago now.

I never 'argue' the postage. It's just that GSP sellers don't see the total cost re overseas sales. If I want to buy something costing easily under $10 but the GSP is $26 of course I'm going to ask....unless their listing says they only post overseas by GSP....in which case I more on. 🙂
I've never been a seller nor do I wish to be. I've had a few duds over the years....the dodgy Chinese ones (and there have been some good ones too) and sellers who are economical with the truth about condition.....and sellers who make careless mistakes like wrongly addressing parcels, leaving items out...or sending the wrong thing completely. It takes a lot to get me really annoyed when things go wrong. The last time the photo and description didn't match what I'd bought.....the seller had used an old listing but the original item had been broken. There was no way the seller could fix the mistake so in the end I decided I could use what I'd paid for and gave good feedback. I'm still looking for the item I wanted though, drat it. The Quest continues.....
