why do so many Aus sellers not ship to NZ?

I've recently bought items from the UK and the US (nightmare), and would prefer to buy from Aus, but it seems all sellers, atleast for the items I want, do not ship to NZ. Is there a reason for that? Is it just NZ or worldwide?
