can sellers change the date paid or date posted

Many times I have bought things and noticed that the "PAID" date is often wrong (usually marked as one day before being posted) and usually several days after it was ACTUALLY paid and easily verified by my records.  Also, POSTED dates are often wrong.  Is it possible for Sellers to manipulate these dates?

I don't even know what an eCheque is, I certainly have never paid this way, I only pay via Paypal out of my paypal account or bank account.

An eCheque is what a payment through Paypal is when the Paypal a/c is not backed up by a credit card - it will take up to 5 business days to clear into the seller's account.

If the Paypal a/c has a credit card attached to it then the payment is instant, even though it's not taken out of that credit card.

"edit" to add any payment directly out of your bank account is also an eCheque and will take the same amount of time to clear

Do you have a credit card or Visa debit card attached to your paypal account?

If not, then the payment that comes from your bank account is an e-cheque which takes at least 3-5 days to clear to the seller, sometimes considerably longer.

This could well account for the discrepancies in times that you are asking about.   Sellers will not post until an e-cheque clears.

I am just astounded at the number of negative remarks it has provoked, but then, as usual there seem to be more negative replies than helpful ones to other peoples posts as well.

Yes, have a credit card attached, am Verified, payments are always instant and Paypal email with receipt mostly instant, never heard of eCheques.

Re: can sellers change the date paid or date posted

I am Verified, bank account and credit card attached to Paypal account, get receipts from Paypal straight away on every transaction, no problem with payment whatsoever, always straight through. Now I have raised the issue, other people may start noticing, one buyer recently left the Seller a negative and mentioned this, so I am not the only one who has noticed this, seems no logical explanation except that it looks good for the Seller to have posted the item promptly. (Usually co-incides with what their stated postage times are) e.g. seems to happen when they state e.g "will post within three days of cleared payment" then a week later when they haven't posted it, it suddenly changes to marked as posted one day after payment made, except that the payment date has been somehow altered, so that it appears to have been sent within the stated time. Sounds Fishy to me. I am really rather amused by the whole thing, and wonder why it has provoked so many negative remarks. Now that's food for thought!

Re: can sellers change the date paid or date posted

I am not confused seems you are, the question was regarding Payment dates, not shipping dates.  It is the payment date that changes, and I KNOW when I paid for something and get a Paypal receipt to prove it, as well as it shows up on the original purchase on eBay with the correct payment date.  It just changes on the  "Purchase History" page.

Not the least bit interested in knowing about eCheques, waste of time for something I am never going to use. I have a life.
