ebay wrongly marks items with "free postage"

I notice that items that are advertised as pickup only get marked as "free postage" by ebay. That's a problematic error by ebay, as buyers assue they get free shipping.

It is actually both an eBay problem and seller-error, in a way. 

When someone lists something, the "no postage, local pick-up only' option isn't available by default, so what many people do is tick 'local pick up' as a postage method and then not select any postage services or enter postage costs - this displays in search results as 'free post'.

If, on the other hand, they select 'add or remove options' and save the option 'no postage, local pick-up only' to be available in the listing form, then select that instead of the above method, it displays as 'free, local pick-up only' in search results. 

If eBay made that option available to select by default rather than tucking it away in extra options, the problem would largely be solved, methinks.

Buyers also need to take some responsibility and read the description before assuming anything.

The listing you showed does say Pick up only, twice I can see:

Posts to:

Local pick-up only

and (in description)

Pickup only in Glen Waverley, VIC 3150.

Not sure the seller could do any more - perhaps put pick up only in the title also?

It is annoying that it shows as Free Postage in the search results though.

it is a known glitch with the eBay app.
