Hi
can anyone please tell me how i stop these recently viewed items from popping up all over the internet.
this has ruined several birthdays Christmas And Birthdays.as to family seeing them on my computer!
I Know how to remove the last lot of items viewed
but i want to stop this happening all together all future searches.
there has to be a way that ebay can stop this garbage it is not needed.
and for some reason similar sites are also showing what i have viewed on ebay.
This is called a breach of privacy and my rights.
This must be stopped at once

I don't think you can, but you can randomly view other items to replace them as only the latest items you have viewed show up.
For example - after you have looked at a couple of potential birthday gifts then go and click on a heap of random books and the books will show up on your list of recently viewed items rather then the important items (not saying that books are not important, lol.
It really isn't a breach of privacy and rights, if you have a separate Ebay account / separate browser on a shared computer and log out each time then other people shouldn't be able to see what you have looked at. And, adding some privacy apps to your browser should stop what you search for being displayed on other sites - or use a private browser app.

A few years ago, I used to have a problem with pop ups. They used to show up randomly even when I was not on ebay and it was massively annoying. I googled it and came across instructions on how to block those pop ups & it worked. So if they are part of your problem, you could do that for a start.
If you have a facebook account, you will probably see recently viewed items on there too. Not just ebay items, anything eg holiday offers etc. My advice there would be to log out of facebook after each computer session.
The other option is if your computer has a setting to open in private window, maybe access ebay that way. I don't know if that will stop pop ups but worth a try.

This is due to a thing called cookies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie
The use of cookies on sites is typically stated up front, and in their full privacy statement, they will explain how they are used. They also explain that use of the site is deemed acceptance of their terms, and use of cookies.
Logging out of an account won't stop your search history from being used to create ads targeted towards what you have searched via the browser.
To clear that information, you need to clear your cookies and cache from your browser.
You can block some types of cookies in your browser setting, just be aware that some cookies are essential and this can interfere with some website actions, or result in things like perpetual sign in loops.
You can also open a private tab or window in most browsers and anything you do in that tab will not be stored in your browser's history.
Edit: pipped at the post!

A good ad blocker stops those ads so no-one can see what you have browsed so there isn't any need to do anything with the cookies your computer stores. I just delete all cookies once a month to clean out, my ad blocker does the rest.

I have an adblocker, but eBay still shows me what I looked at recently. I am the only one using my computer, so it's not an issue. If it was, I would, as you suggested, look at a few (3 or 4 from memory) irrelevant items to get rid of them.

Hi
i have 5 ad blockers going all the time
Adblocker Global'Adblock' adblock pro'adblocker by trustnav'
adblocker ultimate.
i also clear my history with both System Menchanic also Advanced system care.
both gret programs and on a weekly basis i us east tek eraser.
the 3 programs mentrioned are paid apps not trial's.
i never had these ebay things until a month ago..
another thing i have noticed with some emails spam i get
i want to stop them but when i open the message looking for the unscribe line they do not have 1.
could this be the emails are made to look authentic but when we open them it is taken as a yes agreeing for more spam to accept these things hideen in the body of he message.
in future i will reverrt back to opening messages through the body first.
all the acblockers are great only some sites i have to allow them as to being to open some legit sites.
